SantaThingSantaThing Entry #207

LibraryThing member kristilabrie

Recipient is not the account.

Gift is for: Finnegan (4.5 yo son)

Book tastes

Finn is 4 1/2, so he likes most things. He loves books with animals, dinosaurs, or anything with a motor in it. I love to read him picture books with nice rhymes at bedtime, anything with good lessons in it about being kind or sharing, being brave, etc. Some books where he could start reading along with me would be great, too! Please just check his collection I have cataloged on my LibraryThing account first at https://www.librarything.com/catalog/kristilabrie/finnscollection :)

Don't get this!

- Anything already cataloged at https://www.librarything.com/catalog/kristilabrie/finnscollection
- No board books, he's grown out of them.
- Nothing that might be considered scary, within reason: my kid has a wild imagination and gets bad dreams from time to time.

Other notes

I would love to see one of your favorite books as a kid at Finn's age, or a favorite of one of the kids in your life who are/were around the same age! Personal recommendations are such a nice touch.

Secret Santa

ablachly: Had to remove Llama Llama Red Pajama as it's already in Finn's catalog! (Dec 7, 2023, 11:02am)
AmyLesemann: I hope your son enjoys these! There is a whole series of Llama Llama books to explore! Amy (Nov 29, 2023, 5:51pm)
_missnomer_: I loved all of the Frances books by Russell Hoben, but particularly Bedtime For Frances, Bread and Jam For Frances, and Sister for Frances. (Nov 26, 2023, 9:30am)
greeneyed_ives: I have a 4.5 year old girl so I was excited to see this! Here are a few suggestions that my kiddo loves, but I didn't see listed in your catalog:

1. Anything Pete the Cat by Eric Litwin and James Dean, though I really recommend Pete the Cat and His Four Groovy Buttons.

2. It's Not Easy Being a Bunny by Marilyn Sadler. One of my husband's favorites and now one of my daughter's. Great early reader about a bunny who decides he is tired of being a bunny and wants to be something different.

3. Tiny T. Rex and the Impossible Hug by Jonathan Stutzman. Great book about being kindness, friendship, and perseverance.

4. The Incredible Book Eating Boy by Oliver Jeffers. Beautiful illustrations and while the plot is predictable, it's still a good message about the importance of reading.

I could probably write about a dozen more but those are definitely a few of the top ones! I hope he enjoys whatever is picked for him! (Nov 18, 2023, 8:31am)
