bigcurlyloz: Ooooh, I loved lots of these suggestions and will add them to my own wish list. Thank you! (Dec 1, 2023, 3:42pm)
thebookmagpie: Perhaps Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon, The Ninth Rain by Jen Williams, or Sorcerer to the Crown by Zen Cho for fantasy. Kate Morton is good for straight historical fiction, and Doomsday Book by Connie Willis or The Diviners series by Libba Bray for crossover historical/speculative. (Nov 29, 2023, 5:50pm)
folofjc: That is the first in a series, and is right around the right price. I have read it, it is excellent. I also like the same author's (Sanderson, Weeks, Hobb). (Nov 29, 2023, 3:56pm)

bigcurlyloz: Ideas, feel free to suggest others! I haven’t read a huge amount of historical fiction.

- Fantasy series (non-epic) - Thursday Next (Jasper Fforde), Rivers of London (Ben Aaronovitch)

- Historical(?) books as have enjoyed - Year of Wonders (Geraldine Brooks), Haweswater (Sarah Hall) (Nov 29, 2023, 1:33pm)
EerierIdyllMeme: My go-to historical fiction rec is Wolf Hall, and there are more if you like it. (Nov 28, 2023, 4:36pm)
