Cute illustrations and good story. The Little Red Hen buys all kinds of stuff at the store that's fun to identify in the pictures. Happy ending, her friends DO help do the dishes!

This book is about a red hen who makes a pizza and asks neighbors to help her.

My personal experience I used to help my mom make pizza all the time when I was little.

Class room extensions is have students make their own pizza with their favorite toppings.

The classic story of the little red hen, but instead she is making a pizza! This is a cute book in that is teaches children about cooking while they are reading. The duck, the cat, and the dog are all dressed really funny in the pictures, and as always they eat with the hen and do the cleaning.

This book teaches children about helping others. When the little red hen needed help with the ingredients no one wanted to help her. But when the pizza was done and smelled great, everyone wanted a slice. They all ended up helping with the dishes which shows children that helping others will pay

off. This was a great book that I will surely read to my classroom.

This book has great, oily like illustrations. It is a great way to introduce sequencing and making lists. The hen goes through the process of gathering ingredients and preparing a pizza.

This is a twist to The Little Red Hen because this time she is making a pizza! Her friends in her all work together to cook the pizza and it goes through every step. It is a good lesson for children about helping others plus the illistrations are great.

Pre-k to 4th. Great for comparing to the original Little Red Hen story, can use for vocabulary, or read for comprehension!

Summary: The Little Red Hen makes a pizza just as the title suggests. He first gets the shopping supplies, then makes the dough, and then finally adds the toppings all by himself. His friends end up surprising him and helping him in the end. Response: The more of the picture books that I keep

Summary:
This book is about a hen who wants to make a pizza. She asks a dog, cat, and duck to help her. They all decline her offer and until they smell the pizza being made. When the hen asks who would like to eat some pizza, they all come running. The hen eats her pizza then asks who is going to
Show More
help her clean up. All the animals clean up together.
Personal Reaction:
This book was decent. It shows children that they have to help with certain things if they want to participate in the fun part such as eating the pizza.
Extension Ideas:
I would have the children make a pizza together. Each child could add a ingredient and make the pizza together and then enjoy eating it.
I would ask the students to write about a time them and their parent made something together.

Summary:
This story is about the hen trying to make a pizza. She keeps trying to get the other animals to help her gather the supplies for the pizza but no one would help her. So she has to gather all the supplies herself and then heads home to make the pizza herself. When all the other animals
Show More
smelled the pizza they wanted some. When they were done eating she asked who is going to help clean and they all pitched in.

Personal Reaction:
I really liked the lesson that this story taught.

Classroom Extension:
1. Have the class choose a ingredient for each person to add to our pizza and than make it for lunch.

2. Have a discussion about the importance of helping your neighbor and how you can get rewarded.

A wonderfully written retelling/sequel to the classic Little Red Hen story. This time, the Little Red Hen makes that kid-pleaser, a pizza.

What really makes this a must-have is the incredibly detailed collage-style illustrations. Kids can look at this book over and over and find something new on
Show More
each page every time. What are the 'other things' Little Red Hen brings home from her shopping expeditions? What other project does she do that day, besides make a pizza? Look at the illustrations to find out.

One day the Little Red Hen decides to make a pizza, but she doesn’t have the necessary ingredients at home. She goes out to buy everything she needs and makes the pizza, all without the help of the cat, dog, and duck. When it comes time to eat the pizza, it is so large that she decides to share
Show More
with the cat, dog, and duck. When the meal is over, the cat, the dog, and the duck clean the dishes for the Little Red Hen.

This simply told story of an everyday event is perfect for young readers, who are very much invested and interested in day-to-day family errands like going shopping and cooking. The repetition of the cat, dog, and duck’s lines “Not I” to the Little Red Hen’s early requests become expected by little readers and are a lot of fun for them to chime in on, making them feel like part of the story. I was a bit concerned about where the moral of the story was going when I saw that the cat, dog, and duck finally say yes to eating the pizza they refused to help make, but was glad to see it was evened out by them helping with clean-up. The paper-cut illustrations are delightfully fun, colorful, full of little details, and sure to be a hit.

A hen decides to make a pizza and tries to enlist the help of the children in the neighborhood. Of course she is left to do it alone. But she is nice enough to share her pizza, so in the end the children help with dishes.

Genre: Fantasy
Age: Primary
Media: Watercolor
Review: This is fantasy because the animals in the story speak. The author makes the story believable because they are common animals and children's imaginations allow them to believe that animals could talk.
Plot: The plot stays the same throughout the
Show More
book. The hen asks her friends to do something for her and they won't, but once she asks them about eating the pizza they help. The resolution is when they say yes to helping the hen do the dishes.

I really enjoyed the illustrations in this book - the medium appeared to be all paper collage and they are amazing. I was not a huge fan of this book, solely because I hate books that repeat and are predictable. However, I think that the author was gearing towards a younger audience - obviously.

Kids will love that it's about pizza, as well as being able to predict what will happen next.

This book is very cute and I will definitely read it to my class when I become a teacher. "The Little Red Hen" is a very well illustrated book with lots of colors and details. Most of the pages have pictures next to the items that the little red hen bought at the store to make her pizza.

Hen is hungry and decides to make a pizza. When she asks the neighborhood kids to help they say they are too busy, so she does the grocery shopping and cooking all by herself. It isn't until the pizza is out of the oven and smelling delectable that the kids want in on the action. A fun story about
Show More
lending a helping hand and giving back. In the end when it was time to clean up the kitchen the kids jumped up and seemed more than happy to do it.

Summary:
The hen wants to make a pizza. So she starts looking in her pantry for all the ingredients. In doing so she realizes she needs to go to the store for some of the stuff. She asks her 3 friends outside her window if any of them would like to get them for her they all say no. She ends up
Show More
having to make more than one trip to the store because she forgets to look before she goes. Her friends still say no when she asks them if they could do it. In the end she makes the delicious pizza and her friends want some.

Personal Reaction:
I like this story because the Hen really wants to make a pizza so she does everything in her power to make this pizza. Her friends are like any friends when their busy, they do not want to run to the store for her but of course want pizza when it is finished. However they do help her do the dishes at the end of the story. That show's good friendship.

Classroom Extension Ideas:
Have the children talk about a time they helped their parent cook something or if their parent asked them to help and they did not want to but of course wanted the food when it was ready. This could maybe help the children realize what their parents have to go through to make them food with no help.

This was a clever spin on the classic folktale, which children are already familiar with. It teaches important lessons of friendship, helping others, and sharing.

This is a book about Little Red Hen wanting to cook a pizza. Little Red Hen calls upon her friends to help her make the pizza. They keep saying no, so she does all the word herself. After the pizza is made, Little Red Hen asks who wants to eat the pizza and they all say yes. They enjoy the pizza
Show More
together and when they are all done her friends help clean up because she did all the cooking. This is a great book to show children that you should help friends and do be appreciative when somebody does something for you. The illustrations are kid-friendly and visually attractive. I would definitely recommend this book for a dramatic play lesson or to read aloud.

Summary: Little Red Hen decided since she was hungry after her nap, to make a pizza. Through the process of her making a pizza, she found out that she needed many things to prepare her pizza. She would stick her head out of the window to talk to her animal friends and ask if they might have what
Show More
she was needing to make her pizza and the answer was always "Not I" from the duck, dog, and the cat. So Little Red Hen had to go to the store by herself with no help from her friends. She did all the work herself and then cooked her homemade pizza. It was too big for just her and she then asked her friends one more question, if anybody would like some pizza, and they all said yes! When done the hen did ask who will help her do the dishes and they all did say "I Will."
Personal Reaction: This story shows us that the hens friends finally figured out they should help after the hen did such a nice thing for them. It shows how we need to help our friends when asked and they did see how generous there friend, the hen was to them which is a good lesson.
Classroom Extension Ideas: We can make brown circles from construction paper and let the children paint a pizza. We also will make pizzas in the kitchen with biscuits, pepperonis, cheese, and sauce.

This was a good book. I remember hearing similar stories growing up but i think this is one of my new favorite versions. The illustrations are very colorful and interesting.

Summary
In this cute fantasy book a hen needs everything from ingredients to materials to make a pizza. She continuously asks for help and is told "no" by the cat, dog, and duck. Once the pizza is finally ready the cat, dog, and duck help eat and wash dishes.

Personal Reaction
I enjoyed the story's
Show More
clever way of describing the mother role. The hen never screams or complains and the cat, dog, and duck all eventually help in some way. This is a cute fable with a delicious looking pizza .

Classroom Extension Idea
I. Skit
I would love to hear students bark like a dog, quack like a duck, and meow like a cat as they all say "no".
II. Cook
I would enjoy making a large pizza from scratch with a classroom full of students.
