Description

The enemy wants us to feel rejected... left out, lonely, and less than. When we allow him to speak lies through our rejection, he pickpockets our purpose. Cripples our courage. Dismantles our dreams. And blinds us to the beauty of Christ's powerful love. In Uninvited, Lysa shares her own deeply personal experiences with rejection-from the incredibly painful childhood abandonment by her father to the perceived judgment of the perfectly toned woman one elliptical over. With biblical depth, gut-honest vulnerability, and refreshing wit, Lysa helps readers: Release the desire to fall apart or control the actions of others by embracing God-honoring ways to process their hurt. Know exactly what to pray for the next ten days to steady their soul and restore their confidence. Overcome the two core fears that feed our insecurities by understanding the secret of belonging. Stop feeling left out and start believing that "set apart" does not mean "set aside." End the cycle of perceived rejection by refusing to turn a small incident into a full blown issue.… (more)

I don't typically read Christian self-improvement books. I chose this one because the subtitle promised that it would address issues of interest to me. I was prepared to be cynical about the contents, and I did find certain features, such as the full-page pull quotes and frequent references to the

author's cellulite, a bit much. But Lysa TerKeurst won me over with her openness and sincerity, even if what she had to say wasn't very surprising. She offers some good advice here, but it is only for female evangelical Christians (whom she insists upon calling "girls"). If you don't fit that description, you won't get much out of it, but if you do you may find it useful.

While occasionally a bit to folksy in style, this Christian reflection on dealing with rejection in all of its many variations had some really profound thoughts to add to my experience that made this book a worthwhile read for me.

I just resonate with Lysa so much! I went through the Bible Study with just the Uninvited Study Guide last year and really got a lot out of it, though I didn't think I would. So this year I decided to buy the book, and it went even deeper into her struggles and personal stories, which was

refreshing to hear a leader opening up about their struggles, weaknesses, and failures.
I would highly recommend!!

The author of this book has faced rejection and loss of friendship in her life. She uses her experience to point the reader to Christ. To the relationship that ultimately matters and encourages everyone to live loved by God. I really loved this book and hit close to home in so many ways. I think

that whether people are willing to admit it or not, everyone has faced loneliness and rejection in some form throughout their life. This sometimes, not always, can impact you in far-reaching ways. I love how the author continually points back to Jesus. I look forward to adding this book to my library.
