The House of Fox is a sizzling comedy. There are people who are stuck in the House of Fox, and behind a door lies the unknown, but you KNOW there is going to be sex sex sex. The black comedy is humorous as well. The sex scenes are explicit and very hot. There are a lot of sex scenes. The characters

are male and female. Each are trying to find a way out, but you wonder WHY when there's so much sex to be had!

I was given a free copy for an honest review.

If you miss reading or have never read Penthouse magazine's Forum, or Letters, this book is for you. Pretty much every teenage sex fantasy is included. The book is about 4 people who are sort of friends who wind up in hell. Hell according to the author is a land of unlimited sexual perversion.
Not

really sure the point this book was trying to make.

Overall not my kind of thing. If you're looking for some smut with a confusing plot it might be the book for you.

As I sit down to review S.J. Smiths "The House of Fox," I have in mind a line one hears in televised cooking competitions, where the judge has sampled a contestant's offering and says something to the effect of 'I admire your conception, but your execution left a lot to be desired.'

That's exactly
Show More
how I feel after finishing "The House of Fox." Not a bad premise, to begin with - four friends lost in an otherwordly realm, their exploration of that realm and discovery of its true nature, and each finding their own means of acceptance or escape. Plenty of opportunity for developing the premise through humor and action (including prurient) ... but all is lost in Smith's devotion to excessively (and unnecessarily) detailed descriptions of said prurient action.

By the time I reached the final page and the story's conclusion, my response was 'meh.' I had long since stopped caring about the story or its chacters.

And I DID reach the end, by the way. If it were up to me, I'd have stopped after a chapter or two. But under the terms of my accepting this book, I was obliged to read-and-review it.

I have done that ... and I am done with the book ... and probably done with anything else by S.J. Smith that may come my way in the future.

There is something about a book with a dedication by the author that says “the following people are not allowed to read this.” I believe the named people are members of the author’s family. So right off it is either horribly twisted stuff or just sex. This one is just sex and was provided to

me by the Library Thing Early Reviewer Program. I get the book; they get a review. I did ask for a copy of this novel because I enjoyed a different novel by SJ Smith, Peepers. This one is different:

Frank is jealous of his good buddy Dylan. His BFF has a nickname, Dylan the (euphemism for private investigator) that makes him quite a hit with any and all ladies. So much so that Frank has found a magic cream that will allow him to measure up to his best friend.

Dylan, Frank, Jane and Donna have been drinking. As it gets later, they decide to visit a restored sexual playground newly named The house of Fox. Sort of like the Hotel California; you can enter but you can never leave. That is the bad news. The good news, maybe, is that you can do all kinds of weird sex stuff. At least that is what all the characters in the story say.

While our four characters are exercising out their various weird desires, Donna figures out they are all in hell. Managing Madam Kitty explains it is all a put on for the great voyeur in the sky. The House of Fox is a sort of purgatory but “graduates” do not ascend to a better existence. Their only direction is Hell, a place where they will go should their activities at the House of Fox displease a supreme voyeur.

In fact, I could not find anything in the story outside my experience. This either 1) makes me a pervert according to the characters in the story or 2) leaves me to charge the author with boring rehash of things I consider normal. If I were to choose the second path; I would be impolite. I am very polite. (There is one exception outside my experience. I am physically unable to fire the ping pong balls in the way described. I was the catcher.)

To give you the “flavor” of the book, here is what I consider to be the best line: “They stole my fucking brain. They ate it right in front of me, then shat it back into my head. Now they call me shit for brains and laugh at me.” [Loc 2187-2188] OK, then.

I liked Peepers. I should have quit while I was ahead (not to be confused with the head that was named Frank).

As long as you have no illusions about why you picked up SJ Smith's The House of Fox in the first place (I'll give you a hint: sex, Sex, SEX!), then you're in for a playful good time. Buckle in for a hilarious, erotic romp through the mysterious House of Fox.

I'll admit I didn't have high hopes for this one. And yet I still found it disappointing. There might have been some interesting ideas to explore, but they weren't.

Then there's the sexual content. The word "puerile" is probably overused, but feels suitable.

In summary, there's no plot, it's not

sexy, and it isn't very funny either.

At first I found this intriguing and interesting. Humorous at times fast paced and at times confusing. Characters were well developed (no pun intended) and the feel of people we all know. A good read overall!

Funny in places. Lots of explicit sexual situations. Got a bit tedious by the end. Bit of a plot running through the book that resolved OK. Overall an OK read but I'm not going to be adding the author to my watch list.

A laugh out loud orgy of hysterically original non-stop sex antics.

Porn with a story!

The House of Fox is a sexy purgatory where pretty (but dead) people spend their days indulging in all manner of sexual depravity, satisfying their own desires while also appeasing "The Great Voyeur in the Sky". Four friends out on the town drinking wind up here after the lot of

them were killed that night. After first thinking they merely stumbled into some incredible bordello, the alpha male. Dylan "the Dick" decides they should find a way out. Except his compatriots aren't so sure can...or even want to, leave.

There are rules in the House of Fox, and Dylan is challenging them. There is also an administrative overseer, Kitty, who becomes involved with all four of them. When Frank, the weasel of the bunch (reminded me of Frank Burns from M*A*S*H) shows signs of mental instability, he is consigned to the pits of hell. Literally. Dylan's quest then takes him on a Dante-esque journey through hell with Frank (or what's left of him) as his tour guide.

Characters in this story seemed turned on by everything; everyone was a nymphomanic. The sex scenes were crude and often repetitive, this could have been a better book with less of it, particularly if the author replaced it with more character development. It did appeal to the hidden juvenile in me, much the same way direct-to-video sex comedies sometimes do.

I received a free copy of the book i exchange for an HONEST review.

I requested this book because I like adult humor. Not PORN but humor with an adult twist (like National Lampoons). This book is not what I expected. First, it is NOT funny AT ALL. The story is tedious and drawn out...the dialogue is

WEAK...the characters are all uninteresting. I struggled through a better part of the book before I just couldn't do it anymore...I quit.

I am sorry to say that I have to give this book 1-star.

This is the first in a long time that I've read anything quite this vulgar. This is also the first time I've read anything quite like this. it is wonderfully smutty. And witty to boot.

The House of Fox is a brothel unlike any other. Your wildest fantasies destined to be fulfilled. The only catch...

you're dead and this is your afterlife. So what happens when you're bored with all the sexy shenanigans? Why, you'll have to go to hell of course!

If you like a lot of sex, a bit of mystery, some thrills and a lot of strangeness in your stories, you'll enjoy this book. Four people... two friends, ex-boyfriend, and a new friend...get drunk, argue with each other and, separately, each meets a female stranger. They wake up the next morning and
Show More
find themselves in this strange hotel or brothel, where every sexual wish, some they didn't even know they had, is met.

Each has his or her own fantasies and hopes, sexual and emotional. We meet each member of the little group separately and are told the story of how he/she got there. Their confusion, the surprises, and the other people they interact with as they try to figure out exactly where they are and how to leave, or stay. Each of the four learns something about him or her self along the way.

With most erotic writing, there is sex without much of a story. The House of Fox has a good story to it, with a few surprises, even a couple of snickers and, of course, some likable characters...and the Baddies are Bad. Enjoyable story and yes, I would recommend it to some, but not all, of my friends, as not everyone likes explicit sexual scenes in their books.
