Okay, but suffers from being not as good as the greats. This is a police thriller set in Minneapolis and while gripping enough she's not as good at the police stuff as Michael Connelly and not as good with the sense of place in Minneapolis as John Sandford. But a good author to turn to while you're

Classic Tami Hoag. The story pushes you along to get to who did it. Sam Kovac and Nikki Liska are the detectives on the case. Sam is your classic detective and you like him regardless of his short comings. Nikki Liska is your typical female trying to make it in a man's world. One of their own is

found hanging in his own home and it appears to be a suicide. These two detectives push to get answers and the story unfolds. Definately worth your time to read.

This was an excellent murder mystery. It had me sitting on the edge of my seat until the very end.

Really pretty good. This one focused on the detectives Kovak and Liska from the previous book (Ashes to Ashes). I found these characters to be more real than the "flawed hero and heroine" from the prior book. Kovak and Liska were real to me. The plot was a little convoluted but it rang true and

didn't seem too contrived. Overall the book made me cold! December in Minneapolis ... who in their right mind? Oh, yeah, never mind.

Fine but seemed to drag

What if you had to try and make sense of the hanging of a young cop? What if that cop was an Internal Affairs investigator? And what if that IA detective was gay? And what if he was the son of a legend of the department? Tami Hoag does just this and more in "Dust To Dust", a follow up to her

As I began this book, I knew it wasn't one that I would normally read. I'm not a fan of crime stories and I don't really like the way the author writes. But the next thing I knew, I was already in the middle of the book and didn't want to stop there. There were points in the book when I thought I

knew what was going on and who did the crime but then the next thing I knew, I was confused again. I don't know if that was a good thing or not. I didn't much like the end because I wanted a happy love story, but it was still a pretty good book. I enjoyed it more than I thought I was going to in the beginning.

Well-crafted story of cops and their families. Huge improvement over first in the series; glad I continued on.

I thought this book was a good read. (It must have been since I spent my lunch hour reading the last 25 pages or so to find out who-dun-it.) I described the book as a little dark to the friend I've given it too and when she asked what I meant by that I said the characters were not happy, they were

depressed. However, I found them very realistic, not one-dimensional like the personae in some mystery novels. If I had to pick a favourite character it would be Sam Kovak, the male homicide detective. His partner, 'Tinks' Liska, is a single mom and her interactions with her kids were well done but I thought some of her decisions about pursuing the case were unrealistic.

The novel is set in Minneapolis just before Christmas. Some of the details about the festive season are very funny, like Kovak's neighbour's massive lighting display. It provides a nice counterpoint to the main action which deals with investigating the violent deaths of a police officer and his father.

Quite a good detective story. Worth a read.

A pretty good mystery. I kept waiting for them to get proof the deaths were not suicides. The main thing that kept them looking was how much other people wanted them not to.

I love police procedurals. This was an amazing book as Hoag's always are. I need to locate and read all her books.
