Description

Fiction. Western. Thriller. Historical Fiction. HTML: It was a name that caused the most hardened gunmen to break out in a cold sweat. Chick Bowdrie. He could have ridden the outlaw trail, but the Texas Rangers recruited him because they didn't want to have to fight against him. Terrific set of stories set around the titular character, Chick Bowdrie. L’Amour filled two books with Bowdrie and gave him an interesting and varied case load as a Texas Ranger. A master of the genre.

Short stories that all star Chick Bowdrie - a mysterious man who wanders the west for the Texas Rangers, in pursuit of justice. A strong character astride a cross-grained hammerheaded roan. Tightly written, entertaining.

Not as good, in my opinion, as the Sackett Series. Still enjoyed it enough to read it over and over and over. Reminds me of my youth watching Westerns with my dad!!

I thoroughly enjoyed a reread of this short story collection about a young Texas Ranger. I especially liked how the main character uses his smarts to uncover the truth of each investigation and doesn't just shoot/punch his way through. Recommended.
