Being a white water guide was Dani’s dream job, but finding a dead body of a friend as she was completing a run put a whole different light on her dream job.

Was her friend's death an accident or was it murder? Too many things happened after she found the body to convince her that it was
Show More
simply an accident.

The tension and the action escalated once Dani and her Uncle Ty decided to investigate. They became involved in an unscrupulousness scheme by environmentalists. Murder, corruption, and folks being paid off made ONE MILE UNDER an action-packed thriller.

Dani and Uncle Ty were likable characters along with the folks that were being victimized by the environmental corruption. Most of the other characters were deadly, frightening, dishonest, and cunning.

ONE MILE UNDER took a few pages to get interesting, but once it got going you won't want to put the book down. The detailed action was intense, and will have you feeling the fear and sharing the fear of the characters. The book had me on the edge of my seat.

Any reader who enjoys fast-paced, gripping, page-turning thrillers will definitely enjoy ONE MILE UNDER. 4/5

This book was given to me free of charge and without compensation by the publisher in return for an honest review.

first off, i got this book through a giveaway. it kept a pretty steady plot. there were no edge of your seat moments, there was danger, but i had a good idea everything would be ok. it had such a unique and interesting plot. was kinda bummed that the bad guys were veterans being a veteran myself,

but the military does have all kinds. it was definitely a good read though!

I am a fan of Mr. Gross. Whenever I see a new book of his I try to get a copy to read. There might be a few that I have missed but not many. I really did want to read this book because it took place in Colorado. In fact, in Aspen, Colorado. A real place that is only a few hours away from where I

live. So because this story did reference to real places, it helped with the geographical location aspect of the story and made it seem as if this could be a real story. Which it actually could be with the subject matter. I don't want to say too much as I don't want to give anything away.

Both Dani and Ty are great in this book. It is just that the rest of the characters do not live up to the same standard and therefore the story was a little lackluster. What with the characters and lack of suspense and action that was missing in most of the story. It all came together in the last third of the story. Although I was sadden by this book being middle of the road, I will still read more books by Mr. Gross.

I chose this book because one of my favorite book bloggers, Jill at Rhapsody In Books, said in her review that not only was this book a fast paced thriller but the reader will learn about fracking and its implications. I knew this was a good book for me because all I knew about fracking before
Show More
reading it was that it’s bad. I didn’t know exactly why or even what the process entailed. I had just seen clips on TV of people lighting the water coming out of their faucets on fire. This book was a truly fun way to learn about fracking. The information is seamlessly embedded into the story, there are no awkward character monologues or inauthentic information dumps.

The plot moves quickly and has several twists and turns. I found myself wanting to strangle most of the characters at one point or another, which I usually take as a good sign. If I wasn’t invested in the story, I wouldn’t have such strong feelings. Dani and Wade brought out this feeling out in me the most often. Wade was a selfish jerk and Dani was way too stubborn for her own good.

I enjoyed the relationship between Dani and Ty, who is her god-father. I was waiting for it to turn into a skeevy May-December lust thing, as formula dictates, but it never did. Kudos to the author for keeping Ty’s relationship to Dani paternal. I appreciated that Dani was a strong, smart woman who didn’t depend on Ty to save her most of the time. And Ty wasn’t an infallible macho man. He needed to be saved at times also.

This is the fourth book in the Ty Hauck thriller series but it can easily be read as a stand-alone.

This is the second Ty Hauck novel I've read and I didn't find it as good as Don't look twice. Parts of it are gripping with suspense and then the story tails of only to pick back up. Having said that, I will try another Andrew Gross Ty Hauck book to see where how it stacks up with the first two

I've read.
