A decent effort for a first book, but I couldn't help but feel that Britton's writing could have used a more assertive editor. For example, several times, the text would read that "he" did something, when the particular scene involved several male characters in the room. Similarly, there were

numerous conversations where I could not follow which character was speaking. Other than those sorts of technical problems, the story was interesting, but I found that I just wasn't that interested in the characters. In particular, the relationship between the protagonist and his girlfriend felt hollow. The book did have a interesting (although predictable) ending, but it was good enough that I'll be interested to read the sequel.

Imagine a westerner trained in American military tactics deciding to join a terrorist network because he is bent on exacting revenge against the U.S. and the west. That is the nightmare scenario facing Ryan Kealey and his associates in this book. Ryan has domestic issues to deal with as well, as he

tries to hold together a new relationship--one that he hopes will end in marriage--yet he also has to fight off an attraction to his beautiful associate working with him to track down 'the American'. Still the thrill of the chase is the main point of this book as it flips back and forth between the perspective of the good and bad guys. And it definitely delivers on the thrills with it's chilling scenario and battle between two highly intelligent and well trained men. This is a great one to recommend to any fan of thrillers.
