Description

Four novellas of tantalizing tittle-tattle in Regency England. In the salons of the ton, no tidbit is more delicious than a rumor of amour-the more outrageous the better. Rakes and rogues, ladies of high station and low morals are choice fodder for the gossips of society.

I might have given this book 4 stars, because I really enjoyed 3 of the 4 stories, but the 3rd story was just awful. To be completely honest it was so bad I couldn't even get through the 100 or so pages that it was.
The first story was of a couple who had been betrothed as children and the guy

doesn't want to marry her so he keeps waiting and waiting in hopes she calls it off. She then finds out about some of his exploits about town and decides to get her revenge on him.
The second story is about the widow of a vicar who gets rumors spread about her by a snotty girl who wants the man who is in love with the widow to propose to her.
I actually don't know what the 3rd story is about because I couldn't get far enough into it to get the plot.
The final story is about a wallflower who has had rumors spread about her for years, but when a new Earl comes to town the rumors go too far.

Only read the Eloisa James novella, which was horribly average.

Eloisa James's story is clearly the best in this collection. I didn't like Rebecca Hagan Lee's at all. Julia London's was okay and I'm willing to try out another Jacqueline Navin.
