The sequel to "Master of the Game". The continuing story of The Blackwell Family, considered American royalty, one generation later. The time has come for a new family member to become head of the family business, turned empire, Kruger-Brent. Lexi Templeton is a ruthless, cunning beauty who's

desire, turned obsession, is to follow in her great grandmother's footsteps. She lives and breathes for her one true love, Kruger-Brent. Max Webster, Lexi's cousin, will stop at nothing to make Kruger-Brent his and in return earn the ultimate love of his mother. The two become entangled in a game where there is no mercy and only the winner will be left standing. Gabe McGreggor, a little known descendant, is fighting his own battle to overcome the hatred of his family towards the Blackwells and to create his own fortune. Only to find himself being pulled head first deep down into the abyss that is Kruger-Brent. Deliciously entertaining characters forged into a game of manipulation. A brilliant plot full of twists evoking a love/hate relationship with the Blackwell family.

In Master of the Game, Jamie McGregor started Kruger-Brent and his daughter Kate Blackwell turned the company into an empire. Now Kate Blackwells' granddaughters, Eve and Alexandra have children of their own and either Lexi Templeton or Max Webster will take over the Kruger-Brent empire at the age

of 25.

During a kidnapping at age eight Lexi experiences an unfortunate accident that changes her life forever. This devastating occurrence makes her chances at winning the top spot at Kruger-Brent almost impossible so she has to use both her brains and beauty to show those around her that she is capable of following in Kate’s footsteps as Mistress of the Game.

Long ago Eve was forced out of Kruger-Brent and to this day she will stop at nothing to get her family back into the game. With her madness slowly creeping in, Eve raised Max to show unquestionable loyalty to her and have a deep hatred of Lexi. This unhealthy combination leads to a life of lies, betrayal and even murder.

From Kate’s death in 1984 to Lexi at age 41 Mistress of the Game is a non-stop roller coaster ride of greed, jealousy and lust which almost meets the bar Sidney Sheldon set so high but stops just short of being a seamless sequel. Don’t get me wrong, this was an excellent read and I loved the new players but Bagshawe doesn’t have the extra spice that Sheldon had.

Having read Master of the Game so long ago I wish I had time to re-read it before starting Mistress of the Game. Since I didn’t there was a lot I couldn’t remember from Master but Mistress covered the back story pretty good so I would say that this is definitely a stand alone read that I recommend to anyone who loves family drama.

It was very good. A little too graphic in some areas (child prostitution scenes) but other than that glad that Sidney, like V.C. Andrews, will be living on. Thanks to his family for finding talent to keep his work alive.

an international multibillion dollar company, has died. Family members gather and attend the funeral but most of them are not in mourning, they are happy that she is no longer alive. And those members of this family have only one thought and that is who will be taking over as CEO of the company. In her will she named Alexandra, her granddaughter, to be her successor but Eve, Alexandra's twin will fight to take over even though Kate was adamant that she have nothing to do with Kruger-Brent. Eve plans to change that.

Fortunately for Eve, her twin dies during childbirth, and thus starts the fight for control. She feels that "her" company was stolen from her, since Alexandra's children are next in line according to the will. Eve, once a beautiful woman, lives as a recluse because her plastic surgeon husband, Keith Webster, has taken her beauty away, during a procedure knowing this is the only way he can be sure she won't leave him. Eve, a very bitter and vengeful person, grooms her son for the takeover even if it means murder.

The Blackwell family are like royalty, one of the richest families that there is but along with those riches come unthinkable terror. Lexi Templeton, daughter of Alexandra who died during childbirth, is kidnapped at the age of eight (8). Lexi is rescued but the horror she endured molds her life.

This is a story of the Blackwell great grandchildren, the rich and famous, and fighting for control to become the next CEO. Along with the lavish lifestyle, this is a family of secrets, lies, betrayals, treachery, devious plotting and murder. Who will win? Who will take control? There is only one winner!!!

This book definitely held my interest. However, I found the ending to be quite disappointing. I don't know if it was left that way to set it up for another book or what but I just didn't like feeling like the villain won.

As a high school student I loved Sidney Sheldon's books. I was impressed at how similar this writer's voice is to Sheldon's. That said, I found the book to be long and drawn out. I began to skip through the book in order to reach the end.
