Gorgeous, talented and refined, she's the type of woman who could never be interested in a roughneck like him. So he's loved her fiercely in secret, taken her art classes and kept a watchful but comfortable distance. Until now. Decent romantic suspense read. The romance was ridiculously over the top but it was also very swoonworthy. The suspense was a bit light but it was all enjoyable enough not to bother me. The plot line was straightforward and made sense - there were no gaping plot holes or the like. I liked Lauren

and I loved Jacko. Jacko was definitely extreme in his pining but it was amusing and more heartwarming than I'd like to admit to - even if it was silly. Lauren made a few stupid decisions but it was written well enough that I understood where she was coming from. Things like going to friends, not avoiding cameras properly, not going to the cops or hiring help to start with, etc. And I liked her - she was pretty practical and accepting of Jacko's guidance and help once she'd been won over and I liked her humour.

I have read the first book in the Midnight Men series, but it wasn't necessary to follow and understand the plot of this one. I'm eager to read the next one, I love pop culture references in my books and the next one features "Felicity Smoak".

Good, enjoyable romantic suspense. 3.5 stars, rounded to 4.
