A little mouse with no time to spare and no time to laugh learns to do both when she must help her neighbors who have not used their time wisely in preparing for the coming winter.

Tweezle Dee was a prarie mouse. The other prairie mice played and had fun while Tweezle Dee hunted and gathered to prepare for the winter. When winter came the other mice realized they should have been preparing. They went to Tweezle Dee and she turned them away. She was lonely and went in search

of them with a plan in mind. She had wanted to play during the summer but she didn’t know how. If they would teach her the games she would teach them what they needed to do to prepare for the winter. I loved this little book.

The Serendipity version of Aesop's "The Grasshopper and the Ants" although they all belong to the same species. The story is short, simple and to the point. And in a sense I was able to relate to Tweezle who didn't know how to have fun.

The illustrations are some of the best in the series in my

This is the very earliest of my favorite books that I can remember. I was particularly fascinated by the beautifiul illustrations of the pollen and the mouse house, the latter inspiring me to dig holes for the habitation of mice in my backyard.

One of my absolute favorites of the entire series. I think of this little mouse all the time.

My mom read me these books as a child and as such, I have a particular endearment for them. When I found these seven in a book shop, and realized I hadn't read any of them, I snagged them, eager to read more of these favorite stories.
Unfortunately, these seven tended towards the sappy and simple,

instead of the imaginative and adventurous of the ones my Mom read. Perhaps she picked the best ones. Perhaps it is my own glossy memory of childhood. But the ones like Muffin Muncher, Wheedle on the Needle, Maui-Maui, and The Savepotmus are better. Still, owning these is important to me and I am glad I have them.
