The little Bear and The Marco Polo written by Else Homelund Minarik is on one reading stage, which means there are simple sentences for eager new readers. This story is about a young bear learning about things that was found in his Grandfather's attic. While he is going through things he finds his

grandfather's blue jacket and a fancy cap it was sea captain uniform and a picture of a his grandfather's ship called Marco Polo. The grandfather told his grandson all things he saw while being on the ship and sailing to different places. This book would be great for kindgarten and first grade.
After reading this story I would ask children to create a picture of their very own boat. And then tell the class what is the name of the boat and what places would the boat sail to.

All Little Bear books are adored by the beginning reader, this one is no exception. Little Bear learns of the story of his grandfather as a boat captain (while cleaning the attic) and his grandmother as a young bride. His excitement is almost overflowing.

Then about how grandmother wants it too build their own house, then planted the fruit trees. Then little bear wants to see Marco Polo which is the boat in which grandpa went
