Robert E. Lee was a war hero, a General in Chief, a president of Washington College, and a husband. Robert was a great person, his teacher described him as "neat, never behind in his work, a most exemplary student in every respect." After his father died, he took care of his mother and siblings.

Once his mother died he left home and entered the United States Military Academy. He became a soldier and later married Mary Randolph and had seven children. He was sent by the army to all kinds of places in the U.S. to fix and repair things. Then he became a scout in Mexico. After the war, he was called a "military genus." Lee was a great soldier, but he hated war. This is a very informational book about Robert E. Lee. I can imagine that boys would really like this book because of the illustrated war pictures. I went from knowing nothing about Robert E. Lee, to learning that he was one of the greatest war heroes ever. Very good picture book about Robert E. Lee.

A great biography for elementary students. The pictures help to tell the story, and the facts are presented in a student friendly way. A great way to introduce this Confederate General to the classroom.

This is a great book to teach students about the Civil War. It's an easy way for students to learn about the history of the war and how this brave man became the General in Chief. It starts from when he was born, marriage, Civil War, president of Washington College, and his death.

This is the biography of Robert E. Lee. We follow him from the time he was a boy, to him going off to West Point and becoming a lieutenant in the army. He became known as the greatest military leader in America. During the Civil War, he led the Confederate army and won. He and his troops lost

several wars after that. This is a great way to teach students about the wars fought in the United States and also about great American leaders. The illustrations are very detailed, so students can get a clearer picture of what happened during Robert E. Lee's command. I would use this book in a social studies class with fourth and fifth grade.
