This biography is not as interesting as the others in "A Picture Book of..." However it is still a useful piece for younger students. I would encourage it in my classrooms.

Genre: This is a biography because it describes the life of Thomas Jefferson. Although this is a short picture book, Jefferson's life is described in detail. Many facts are given and we travel through his life and see how he made an influential impact on American history and how he became president
Show More
one day. This also describes what kind of a president he was, what he changed, and how he made a difference for slaves.

Characterization: Thomas Jefferson is a round character because we know a lot about his feelings toward slavery. He is also a dynamic character because we are able to follow him throughout his life. He goes from being a little boy to building his own home and being involved in the government. He goes all the way to write the Declaration of Independence, which is one of the most important documents ever written.

This is an easy to read picture book on the life of Thomas Jefferson. This book tells all the great work Jefferson has done for our country and how he will always be an important figure in the U.S. This would be a great book to read when discussing the presidents and also in history when learning

about the Declaration of Independence.

This is a brief biography of the life of Thomas Jefferson, and how he became a founding father.

This is a great nonfiction book for young children. It not only tells factual information about Thomas Jefferson but includes small facts that children would have probably asked him about if he were alive. The illustrations are colorful and cartoon like making it kid friendly to look at.

This book is a vast simplification of the complex life of one of our most intriguing Founding Fathers. Even as an introduction of Thomas Jefferson for very young children, it falls short.

This book is easy to read and obtain the information about an important person in history. The pictures are so colorful and will get the children engaged. After the book a teacher could give a quiz on the important events in Jefferson's life.

This picture book biography has lots of biographical information but is written and illustrated in such a great manner that when reading this to young students I do not think they will get bored. The great illustrations on each page give young readers a lot to look at while reading this book. I
Show More
also love how this book ends with a timeline of important dates which can be helpful in teaching young readers about the key points in history.

I would use this book in a first or second grade classroom for a history unit or when learning about biographies.

This book talks about the journey of Thomas Jefferson. A lot of David Adler's books can be used to teach children about history and they can read these nonfiction books to get facts and details about many historical figures.

I found this version very scant of Jefferson's life. It was a picture book format and geared for very young readers. There has been a since new reprint yet I haven't seen it yet to review it. I was benchmarking this against other biographies about Jefferson especially with his relationship with
Show More
Sally Hemings which I can understand why very young readers would not be privy to this detail.
