Caramba is a funny cat who wants to fly like all the other cats do, but he can't. He secretly practices all the time, but practice doesn't help. One day Caramba's cousins, Bug and Bijou, take Caramba up to fly as they carry him they ask Caramba "are you ready" and he is not ready but they let go

anyway. Caramba lands in the ocean and there he finds out that he can swim. He passes through the fish and all the other ocean animals and plants. He loves swimming and enjoys it and now he feels great!

This book tells a story of a cat who is very concerned because he can't fly like the other cats. He tries and tires and eventually a few of his fellow cats offer to give him a lesson. In the middle of the lesson they drop him over the ocean and tell him to flap his paws but he lands

right into the water. The cool thing about falling is that he discovers he can swim, and that is something none of the other cats can do. Caramba doesn't have to follow the crowd and do whatever everyone else can do, because he can do things that are special just to him. This would be a great book to read to students when trying to explain that not everyone does the same things, or has the same talents. This might be a cool read aloud before asking students to take a learning styles or multiple intelligences test.

Did you know cats can fly. Yup, I mean all cats but Caramba. He has tried and tried but just can not take flight. But he finds a great alternative in the end. This story was lovely. I love the pastel watercolors. They are vibrant and set off this story so well.
