Description

A beautifully simple book for small children where transforming pages reveal ten things that everyone can do to help conserve their world. Many of them, such as turning off the television, and turning off lights when leaving a room are about conserving energy. Others will encourage an understanding of nature and conservation.

This is a great and very visually engaging book that will help even the youngest kids understand why it's important to turn off the lights, turn off the water when brushing teeth, etc. I think it'd be a good choice for a storytime on environmentalism or nature - it would be a short, quick palate

cleanser between two longer stories. Also some of the pages are die-cut, adding more visual interest. Really a good book for the toddler set.

I read this book to my class on Earth Day. It does a great job of giving kids easy things they really can do to help out. Each tip has just one sentence but this book led to a lot of discussion in my class about why each of those things are important.

The illustrations in the book are wonderful! It

is made out of 100% recycled materials and the illustration is cut into the shape of the page. The text adds to the illustration as well. The words are written to form shapes rather than straight across the page.

I would use this book in a science unit. It would be great when studying: Earth Day, the environment, natural resources, or habitats.

It would also be a wonderful mentor text when working on a multimodal unit.

I love this book! With its bright colors, double-spread illustrations, lift-the-flaps, and simple messages, it's a real winner!
Even the youngest of listeners can rally to the environmental cause with this eye-catching book. The simplest of messages can be read to the very young,

"I use... [lift the

flap] both sides of the paper."

in smaller print, (artfully positioned to become part the illustration) there is a slightly more complex message,

"If everybody did this, it would greatly reduce the number of trees we use to make paper."

This book is fun with a purpose! Check it out!

The book is fantastic, the pages and how each page has their own details.

I thought some of the ten examples weren't the best one could have though of, but this book is VERY cleverly designed with interesting and exciting die-cuts, and it's all made of recycled material. The illustrations are cute and engaging and feature mixed media that give it a very real and

practical feel. Even the typesetting is quite clever. But the best thing is probably that it's so simple that it can be easily be shared with preschoolers or even toddlers.
