The book The Yucky Reptile Alphabet Book by Jerry Pallotta and illustrated by Ralph Masiello is one of my favorite books about reptiles! The book is set up in ABC format, with a different reptile for each letter of the alphabet. This set up allows for a wide range of reptiles to be portrayed in the

book. It includes vivid illustrations instead of real pictures that sometimes show the reptiles in humorous ways, instead of just perched on a branch. Some of the rhymes about each reptile include funny sayings as well.
I would most likely use this book in any grade from 2nd to 6th. It is humorous and fun. I also think that it depicts each certain reptile accurately and in a way that students can understand and relate to. I would use this book when teaching a lesson about the differences between reptiles and amphibians. I could also use this book as an individual research resource for students when they are doing a project on specific reptiles because it contains some rare reptiles that may be hard to find information on.

This would be a great book for boys to read. I think their attention will be caught by the word “yucky”. It’s a great ABC book that is filled with a lot of information about various reptiles. It could be used in grades 1-4. My nephew who is 5, loved looking at the pictures. I think this would

be great to use as a text innovation. Students could each pick a letter of the alphabet and find an animal to go with it. The class could then make a collective ABC book about yucky, gross, or pretty, beautiful animals, reptiles, or insects.

This book uses different reptiles for each letter of the alphabet. There is a small description with each reptile, teaching the students a little about that creature. Useful for letter or word recocnition used in conjunction with different reptiles. Good for K-3 reading.
*To be used in K-3 setting,
