Great to introduce adding and word problems. This book takes the number 7 and shows how you can add to get 7 in different ways. Simple and quick and easy to read.

Cut paper Collages makes this a very interesting book for young readers, The ducks are very cute and little counters would love the detail in the illustrations. This book is all about adding numbers up to number 7. The repetitive nature of this adding is well thought out and will introduce adding

in a very cute way.

This is an adorable counting book, but not only is it a counting book it is also an adding book. I really think that any child learning to count and add would love it.

"Quack and Count" by Keith Baker is a great book for a teacher to use in lower Elementary. This book explores the ways that you can have a sum of 7 by using different addends. You could use this book as hook to teach how there are many combinations to get to a number. The book follows the different
Show More
combinations by looking at ducklings and how they are organized when swimming and later flying. The book is beautifully illustrated. It is also fun and easy to read so it would be a great book to let students with a lower reading level read if students were taking time to read books in math. This book is a great way to teach addition without teaching. The students will be able to use their mind to conclude that 5+2=7. You will be able to teach in a backward design and this will hopefully keep the students engaged. You could also use manipulatives to follow the storyline and do a circulation to see if students are able to recreate the combinations of addends.

Keith Baker’s Quack and Count is illustrated with a cut-paper collage of warm and cool colors and shows children how to count to seven in seven different combinations of ducks. The back cover displays the numbers one, two, three, four, five, six and seven.

I got a little confused and picked up this book by Keith Baker, because I thought it was one of the two books of his on the counting bibliography. It wasn't, but it should be! This book was delightful and included actual math concepts like addition and subtraction, along with rhythms. I really

enjoyed this book and thought it was great fun.

This book would be good for kindergarten or 1st grade. The concept of the book is counting. It focuses on the number 7 and the different number combinations that can equal 7. It also has a rhyming scheme and cute illustrations. I would have liked it better if it would have included numbers other
Show More
than 7, however.
