This book is written completely in Japanese. The sentence structure and grammar rules are different than in English so children will depend heavily on the pictures to understand word meanings and what happens in the story.

The book has provided me with a great opportunity to teach a few Japanese

word meanings to my daughter. This is a great book to use if you are interested in introducing foreign language to children because it is short and the pictures are descriptive.

I might recommend seeking for Roman Alphabet translation while still using the Japanese words and allowing children to have some exposure to some target Japanese vocabulary words (o-tsuki = moon, kumo = cloud, konbanwa = good evening) and reinforcing their meanings through the reading.
