Description

Fiction. Mystery. Romance. Humor (Fiction.) HTML: Janet Evanovich is the hottest author in America, and her Stephanie Plum novels have taken the nation by storm! #1 New York Times #1 Wall Street Journal #1 Los Angeles Times #1 Entertainment Weekly #1 Publishers Weekly She's accidentally destroyed a dozen cars. She's a target for every psycho and miscreant this side of the Jersey Turnpike. Her mother's convinced she'll end up dead . . . or worse, without a man. She's Stephanie Plum, and she kicks butt for a living (well, she thinks it sounds good to put it that way. . . .). It begins as an innocent trip to the deli-mart, on a quest for nachos. But Stephanie Plum and her partner, Lula, are clearly in the wrong place at the wrong time. A robbery leads to an explosion, which leads to the destruction of yet another car. It would be just another day in the life of Stephanie Plum, except that she becomes the target of a gang??-and of an even scarier, more dangerous force that comes to Trenton. With super bounty hunter Ranger acting more mysteriously than ever (and the tension with vice cop Joe Morelli getting hotter), she finds herself with a decision to make: how to protect herself and where to hide while on the hunt for a killer known as the Junkman. There's only one safe place, and it has Ranger's name all over it??-if she can find it. And if the Junkman doesn't find her first. With Lula riding shotgun and Grandma Mazur on the loose, Stephanie Plum is racing against the clock in her most suspenseful novel yet. Ten Big Ones is page-turning entertainment, and Janet Evanovich is the best there is… (more)

Yup, another good one.

A typical, exciting, over the top, Evanovich novel. In Ten Big Ones Stephanie finds herself at the wrong place at the wrong time...again. While trying to take down wacky FTAs she's also a witness of a convenience store robbery and starts getting hunted down by a gang. Full of the classic Plum

antics.

Okay, seriously, Stephanie! I want you to settle down! Suck itup, quick the job, and find something new. Ugh. This book was not as funny as some - although I am kind of crabby lately so the issue i sprobably more me than the book! But, oh my, if she were a real person and my friend I would advise
Show More
her to leave her job! LOL!

Fun, fasting moving book with interesting characters and story lines, not as good as previous books in this series

good one! really funny. :)

Stephanie ends up pissing off a gang and ends up needing to lay low. As part of this, she moves out of Joe's place & borrows Ranger's appt while he's away. (With the perk being the discovery of his shower gel.)

Quick read.

This isn't rocket science. It's just good escapism beach reading.

This series is quite popular. Given to me to read from a co-worker. Not really my cup of tea, but I can see why a lot of people enjoy her work.

Stephanie & Lula are in the wrong place at the wrong time. They get involved with a vicious gang (Slayers).
Stephanie has a price on her head. Her sister, Valerie, plans to get married. Stephanie lives at Ranger's place for a little while.

This book was not as funny as the others in the series. Luckily it wasn't the first I've read in the Stephanie Plum series or I wouldn't continue to read them. Usually I laugh right out loud quite a few times while reading these books. This one only rated one minor little chuckle.

I like Stephanie Plum as a character, and this was like an average visit with a friend. The story was for the most part a yawner. The ending made it worth it, however.

I think this is the one with the Red Devil--and Stephanie stays at Ranger's for a while.

Tenth in this wonderfully funny series! Not quite as good as the previous ones.

I always enjoy Stephanie and her crew, but one of the best things about this series is the new characters introduced as the books go on. The cross-dressing school bus driver-cum-wedding planner is rolling-on-the-floor delightful. And Stephanie's Mom with her tumberfuls of whiskey is a subtle
Show More
contrast to the nuttiness of everyone else, as well as a hint as to how I would react. I think we just have to accept that Stephanie is not going to be good at the technical aspects of her job, but we all have fun while she messes up.

Stephanie Plum usually encounters danger during her job as a bounty hunter, but this time it happens while she's off-duty. While buying nachos at a local deli, she witnesses a robbery and gets a good look at the robber's face. He wants Stephanie dead, but she refuses to stay inside Joe Morelli's
Show More
(her on and off again boyfriend) house all day long, angering Morelli. She hides at Ranger's apartment (one of his apartments, that is), while trying to catch the gang leader before he has her killed.

Janet Evanovich's books always have plenty of humor and this is no exception. Especially funny is the hiring of "Sally", a transvestite, as the wedding planner for Stephanie's sister's weeding. But nothing new really happens in this book although we get a glimpse of Ranger's apartment, and how he lives, at least part of the time. Connie is in the book a little bit more and the scene where she, Stephanie, and Lula "kidnap" someone is hilarious. But this book mostly reads like every other book in the series. Stephanie's car gets blown up, she eats too much and then worries about her weight, she and Morelli fight, she lusts after Ranger, etc. etc.

Fans of Stephanie Plum will like this book, but it isn't the best in the series.

This book was MOS from Stephanie Plum. She's still blowing up cars. She's still broke all the time. She's still undecided between Ranger and Joe. She's still doing TSTL things that put her life in danger. But, damn it, they're funny! This series is not romance and not mystery. Just plain comedy.

I
Show More
read this one as usual as a book on tape narrated by C. J. Critt. As I have said before, that's the major reason why I continue to read this series. Her voices for Lula, Grandma Mazer, and various assorted characters are wonderful to listen to, and I can't help myself, I laugh out loud. Literally. I have become a danger to drivers everywhere. I miss turns, forget where I'm going, stop at yellow lights (so I can listen longer in the car), and laugh hysterically while sitting at red lights causing looks from nearby drivers. There were a couple of times I was laughing so hard the tears were dripping out of my eyes.

I don't think there was anything new in the "love" triangle going on between Stephanie, Joe, and Ranger. But we did get to see where Ranger lives (well one of them) and that was cool. I think Lula has some of the best lines. I wish I could talk with her sass and wit. One of these days I'm going to list my favorite Lula quotes here. I would love to see this series made into a movie. I'll have to think about who I'd like to see play Stephanie, Joe and Ranger. Lula, too. (Grade: B)

I know. Evanovich is mindless braincandy. So why do I read these books? The truth is that I am secretly, desperately in love with Ranger. Sadly,it is a relationship that is goingnowhere.I dread reaching the last page with everyEvanovich; I know that's it for my loveaffair with Ranger for the year.

And, nowthat I've finished page 312 and closed thebook, dadgumit, that's it.Favorite Quote: "It was a great kiss, but I didn'tknow what the heck it meant. It seemedto me that a breaking-up kiss wouldhave had less tongue."

I don't know, but I've been less than impressed by the last few Stephanie Plum books. Still have their funny parts, but not as good. I'll keep reading for a few more yet.

Not really my favorite of the series. It's simply too unbelievable that you can take on one of the major gangs, arrest some, assault a few more and then...just because an associate pulls up and shoots a couple causing the rest to run for cover...have it "all be over." Nope, payback would be soon

and extreme.

Basically the same as the last two books, but not quite as funny. Don’t get me wrong, Ten Big Ones is still very funny, and I rejoiced over the return of Sally Sweet, who is still a transvestite but now drives a school bus. This book just didn’t have as many hilarious moments, and it was a
Show More
little same old, same old. Stephanie is being stalked by a scary, dangerous bad guy - again. She’s attracted to two men, has relationship issues with both of them, and can’t decide which one she wants to be with - again. The story was definitely entertaining and it had its moments - I especially enjoyed the tension produced by the whole Bat Cave situation - but this wasn’t one of the series’ best. Hopefully book eleven will shake things up a bit while maintaining the steady stream of laughter inducing difficulties that fans have come to expect from Stephanie Plum.

Just when you think what could happen next, she comes up with another scenerio. The on again off again relationship between Stephanie and Joe is entertaining and keeps you wondering. Then with Ranger factored in there it makes it very interesting I think once you read this you will agree who
Show More
Stephanie should be with and she does also, but she can't bring herself to make that committment. Some of her stunts while Bounty hunting are hysterical and the gang twist this time made for an interesting action packed book.

Another good Plum book.

It was nice to read a Stephanie Plum once again. Although I know what to expect (burnt down, trashed or stolen cars, lots of Lula and Grandma Mazur) the books still amuse me. And Stephanie is sympathetic again and also coureagous this time. I would not hold myself together like that if I was on a
Show More
gangs deathlist. I would hide in Morelli's bathroom and cry.
New addition to the team this time is Sally Sweet, musician, transvestite and chauffeur of a schoolbus, oh and also weddingplanner of Valerie, Stephanie's sister.

TEN BIG ONES is the tenth book in the hugely popular Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich.

This time Stephanie is in more trouble than ever as she becomes the focus of local gangs, who plan to hunt her down and kill her. In between avoiding the gangs Stephanie becomes deeper in her lusting for
Show More
Ranger and trying to define her relationship with Morelli.

I'm not sure I would define TEN BIG ONES as a cozy mystery as there was no real "murder mystery". There were murders but it was pretty clear to the killer since the reader was told right away.

Nonetheless the series is a mystery/crime series so I'm going to review it for my mystery blog.

I've loved this series from the very beginning. The first book, ONE FOR THE MONEY, was one of my all time favourite books, but now, ten books later, the plot lines seemed very thin. Instead TEN BIG ONES mainly centres on the romantic interaction of the love triangle between Stephanie, her copy boyfriend, Morelli, and sexy bounty hunter, Ranger.

TEN BIG ONES was a fun read and I still find the love triangle enjoyable (I'm #TeamRanger). However the plot lines were pretty weak so this is just a 3-star read for me.

I will likely read the rest of the series but I won't be going out of my way to read them right now.

This one is much better than #8 or #9 was. Grandma Mazur
had some good lines, but the best lines were Lula's, IMO. In this one
Stephanie manages to piss off the Slayers, a gang of really not very nice
guys. who put a contract out on her. Sally Sweet is back, Connie gets much
more involved than she
Show More
usually does, and Stephanie actually gets to visit
*gasp* the Batcave! It's still on again off again with Morelli, but you get
a little more insight into why that keeps happening. I enjoyed it a bunch
and would give it a solid 4.0

The ending of this book is absolutely perfect. I have to say that I am fed up with Stephanie continually remaining incompetent and putting those who care for her in danger. If she were trying to learn, it might be tolerable, but she i too self indulgent to learn it seems.
