That pink-loving little girl, whose story began in the eponymous Pinkalicious, and then continued in Purplicious, returns in this third picture-book devoted to her (rather bratty) adventures. This time, the theme is pretend play, and Pinkalicious enjoys a day of make believe with her imaginary
Show More
friend, Goldilicious the unicorn. Pinkalicious' brother Peter also gets in on the action, kidnapping the unicorn, who escapes and is transformed into a mermaid (sort of). Despite these contretemps, at the end of the day Pinkalicious discovers that her friend is waiting for her at bedtime...

Like its predecessors, Goldilicious is a hot mess: poorly written, poorly illustrated, and poorly thought out. I continue to find Victoria Kann's artwork flat and unappealing, and her heroine intensely unlikable. While I understand that young children don't always exhibit the best behavior, I find it odd that Pinkalicious' lack of respect for her elders (as in previous stories, she is rude to her parents here) and for her home (she makes a mess, playing in the living room) is never really addressed in the story. This sort of thing - issues going unresolved in the story - seems quite common in these books. As mentioned in previous reviews, I am reading this entire series for a work-related project, otherwise I probably wouldn't have continued past the initial title, given how unimpressed I was with it. That said, I think if anything the quality of storytelling has decreased, as I've read through subsequent books. There are infinitely better stories out there about girls and unicorns - try Uni the Unicorn, for starters - and it is to such titles that I would direct readers, rather than to these books. Not recommended.

this is about a girl and her imaginary pet unicorn named Goldie. They go on adventures that involve ballet, tea parties, wizards, pirates, mermaids, and hot air balloons until it is time for bed. This is an upbeat book that sparks the imagination of kids. I would use it for 2-5th grade and I feel
Show More
that I could appeal to both boys and girls.

Goldilicious by Victoria Kann

This picture book brings back Pinkalicious in a whole new adventure. Pinkalicious has a new friend that only she can see. The new friend is a unicorn named Goldilicious, Goldie for short. The book goes through and tells about all of the things Goldie and Pinkalicious
Show More
do together.

I love this story for young children. There are many children who have imaginary friends and it is great to have a story where a child there age does too. I think a unicorn is a perfect choice of imaginary friend for Pinkalicious.

I would use this story with Pre-K and Kindergarteners. I would discuss some characters that are real and some that we get to imagine. I would read the story and ask the students to draw what their imaginary friend would look like and then come tell me about it so I can write down what it is.

Goldilicious is a book about a little girl, Pinkalicious, who has a very big imagination. She has an imaginary friend, a unicorn named Goldilicious. She does everything with her friend, and even gets her brother believing Goldilicious exists!

I liked this book because I know every kid has an
Show More
imaginary friend at some point, I know I did. And its just fun to see how much fun kids can have with this imaginary friend. I also liked how funny the book was, I sure can relate to it, when Pinkalicious had to go to bed without her friend she was upset. When I was little, I could not sleep without all my stuffed animals.

I would use this book in a classroom to teach students about imaginary friends and that yes they can be fun, but they do not exist. I would really use it also if I had a student who I saw that had an imaginary friend.

girl know that she will always be there for her.

Another book in a wonderful series; this time Pinkalicious has a very best friend that so happens to be an imaginary horse. She spends all her time with her imaginary friend. Pinkalicious gets a little upset because no one else could see her and she thinks Goldilicious ran away. In the classroom:

listening skills, story time, how to deal with imaginary friends

Pinkalicious is a little girl who has an imaginery friend whom is a unicorn that makes a huge mess in their house. Her mom explains that it is okay to have imaginary friends but you cannot make messes around the house and they maybe she should take her pet unicorn outside to play. I really like
Show More
that the mom in this story pretends that her daughter really has a pet unicorn and lets her imaginiation run wild. When Pinkalicious takes goldie outside she plays with her all day and says that only unique people can see goldie and she is the only one who can and is proud that she has a unicorn. She explains how goldie is a ROLLER skater, kite flyer, and high jumper. She is proud to say that her unicorn is very fast and she cann not keep up. The problem arising when goldie runs too fast and she can not find her unicorn and finally she turns up just in time to have a tea party.

The book is great for younger children. It lets their imagination run wild. The words that are used can be read by lower elementary students. Their are some make believe words.

I didn't care for this book. I was drawn to the cover because of the glitter on the cover and the bright graphics. It's the story of one girl's imaginary unicorn and the imaginary play she has with her brother and the unicorn. I just didn't really like the emphasis on being a princess and maybe
Show More
just didn't connect to the character. I see this as a general reading book for circle or quiet reading time.

This book is fun to read because Kann makes up new words (pinktastic) that are fun to say and experience. the main character has an adventure with her brother that involves pirates, treasure and a missing unicorn.

Summary:
This picture book is the story of Pinkalicious and her imaginary pet unicorn. She has many adventures with her unicorn and her brother Peter, including swimming with a mermaid, having a tea party, and being taken captive in the castle. All these adventures happen just before she is called
Show More
in to bed.

Personal Reaction:
As an only child I certainly had my fair share of imaginary friends! We would go to the creek and play, crossing on rocks and swinging on vines. This story reminds me of all those fun times.

Classroom Extension Ideas:
1. In the classroom, I would set up an imaginary friend tea party. I could invite children to take turns sitting at the table and serving their friends and using their best manners.
2. Children could write a journal entry about their imaginary friends and draw an illustration.

A cute story book where this time Pinkalicious and her brother and her imaginary unicorn have an adventure. Fun and pretty illustrations.

Yet another fun and funny children's book by Kann. Pinkalicious reminds me SO much of my daughter.

Summary:
This story is one, in a series of Pinkalicious picture books, of the main heroine's imaginary pet unicorn, Goldilicious. She shares a few adventures with "Goldi" and her brother, including a wizard battle, tea party, taken hostage by pirates, and swimming with mermaids. The child spends an
Show More
amazing day of imagination before bedtime.

Personal Reaction:
When I was growing up as a younger sibling, I had my fair share of conflict with my older brother. I had a few imaginary friends that helped me escape reality and I can relate to the grandeur of the story.

Future Classroom Ideas:
1. I can ask the class to write or share a story about their experiences with imaginary friends and/or older brothers/sisters.
2. I could set up an etiquette 'tea party' in order to explain how to act properly in at the table.

These books are growing on my but I still find Pinkalicious to be a whinny brat (at least to her parents). Goldilicious is her imaginary unicorn who she has grand adventures with. I can start to see where this series would sprout continuations and a tv series. Thank goodness I don’t have to watch
Show More
it.
