The science lab has men, women and a woman of colour. I like the look on the babies face when the needle is about to go in her arm, very complacent and unknowing that this is going to hurt. Very nicely written.

I read this book to complete one of my reading plans. This is a great book to read to children to explain germs, how you get sick, and how your body reacts to keep you healthy. The book provides countless tips to encourage good hygiene and has wonderful illustrations that will keep children
Show More
interested. The last page of the book lists 8 rules to follow for good health and I asked the children to try and follow each one everyday so that they can keep their bodies healthy.

This book is intended for older students because it contains several difficult terms and concepts. The book informs students of germs and how they are everywhere: the food we eat, the air we breathe and on everything we touch. It talks about how they are so small you have to use a microscope to see
Show More
them. Some are harmless while others can make us sick. The book talks about how our bodies fight germs and sometimes the germs win.

This is an informative book about how germs travel and get people sick. It has kid friendly definitions that help explain. This would be a good book to read when learning about taking care of your health.

This nonfiction book explains how viruses and bacteria affect the human body and how your body fights them. It is an easy to understand book filled with facts about how we get sick. The book contains a list of eight rules to good health.

I enjoyed reading this book. The facts were mixed with humor
Show More
and charts to help you understand the process of how germs work.

I would use this book during a science lesson on germs. Before I read the book I would ask each student to come up with a list of ways to stay healthy. We could then compare our lists to the one in the book. I would also like to get a microscope with slides of germs and bacteria for the students to see.

This book is all about how germs travel, how they are everywhere, and what they do to your body. By using illustrations and good definitions and descriptions of the different types of bacteria and germs readers are able to gain knowledge about germs.

I liked this book and found it interesting which
Show More
is weird because I’m not someone who is really interested in germs.

I would use this book and have the students practice washing their hands thoroughly. We would talk about good time limits for washing hands. Also I would have the students right a short paragraph about one bacteria they learned about and what causes it.

Summary:
This book is about how germs get into the body and are fought by our immune systems. It tells about several different types of bacteria, including how they make us sick.

Personal Reactions:
This would be great for children, but as an adult I did not find it to be a good book. It’s really
Show More
good about explaining about the germs. The illustrations are beautiful and go hand in hand with the information.

Classroom Extension Ideas:
1.This would be great in a unit over germs. I would have the students write about a time they were sick and have them write a story of how the germs that made them ill got into their bodies.
2.This book would be a great way to teach younger children how to wash their hands. I would have the students tell why it is important to have clean hands.

This book presents the complex information related to bacteria and viruses and how this effects our immune systems and the rest of our bodies in simple, but effective language. The information is accurate and well written while still being accessible to readers at the lower levels. Furthermore, the
Show More
illustrations are nice and add to the information being presented. This book is a really great way to explain the immune system and germs to younger students.

This is another non-fiction book that would work well for young children because it is easy to read and understand. This book discusses the importance of staying healthy and how germs make us sick. I believe that this book would be great to read early in the year to help children get into the habit
Show More
of washing their hands.

I liked this book! It is a non-fiction book all about germs! The book gives information about germs in a way that children can understand it. For example, “You’re riding a bike. You fall and scrape your knee. Germs from the ground may get under your skin.” This is relatable because most kids
Show More
ride their bike and fall! ☺ I also really liked the illustrations. There were several different characters and animals throughout the story. There were also a lot of great text features such as captions. For example, at one point there was a girl in a dentist chair and the captions says, “Too many candy bars, Nancy!” Once again, this shows how relatable the book is because dentists tell most kids that! Lastly, I enjoyed that the author spread the information out between the text and pictures. This made it much more engaging! There was no overall theme, except for, how to stay healthy!
