Captain, Welsh Guards, MC (1919–2006). Mather describes his experiences with the Commandos, in the Western Desert, with the SAS. Captured December 1942, PoW in PG 21 Chieti and PG 49 Fontanellato. Walked south at the Armistice and crossed the Allied lines in October 1943. Later became a Conservative MP 1970–87.
