I rate this book 5 stars because it gives a good background of African American History that students in the present may not be aware of. I can use this book in my content area to have my students think back to their ancestors and how that impacted their lives today.

A great book that gives us knowledge about African American history. I love how it introduces information in the form of a story told by a child’s father so that kids can relate to it. I would teach this in social studies/history to show students the strength of African Americans throughout
