A little book of random quotes dealing with several facets of life. It is classic Snicket.

This is the kind of book that’s easily read while drinking your latte at a Barnes and Nobel’s Starbucks. Rather than including funny quotes or “Don’t sweat the small stuff” sappy truisms, Snicket points out all the crappy stuff that happens. Not having ever read his stuff before, I
Show More
don’t know if commonly throwing in non sequiter similes and metaphores is a common habit of his. Sometimes, these are funny. Sometimes, I just have to wonder what was going on in his head. But, all in all, this is an amusing book for the black comedy lovers. And even though he’s a children’s book author and it’s put out by Harper Collins Childrens, it’s not a kid’s book. It’s a book for older tweens up to adults.
Some choice selections:
-Perhaps if we saw what was ahead of us, and glimpsed the crimes, follies, and misfortunes that would befall us later on, we would stay in our mother’s wombs, and then there would be nobody in the world but a great number of very fat, very irritated women.
-Love can change a person the way a parent can change a baby-awkwardly, and often with a great deal of mess.
-Fate is like a strange, unpopular restaurant, filled with odd waiters who bring you things you never asked for and don’t always like.
-Having a personal philosophy is like having a pet marmoset, because it may be very attractive when you acquire it, but there may be situations when it will not come in handy at all.

Lemony Snicket,s dry humor comes across wonderfuly in a definetly pessimistic but ultimetly hilarious veiw on life. This collection of funny quotes and sayings with Snicket's touch will keep you laughing. You can almost see the wry grin and hear the shifting tones of Lemony Snicket as he shares a

A book of aphorisms that only Lemony Snicket could come up with. One of the best is "Just about everything in this world is easier said than done with the exception of 'systematically assisting Sisyphus's stealthy, cyst-susceptible sister,' which is easier done than said."

An accompanying novel to the Series of Unfortunate events, it has all the dark and mysterious humor that the series has. This novel is over 100 pages long, but each page has only has a few lines or so. That is because the point of the book is to offer advice on everyday issues like home, issues of

the heart, mental stability, etc... Although it may seem like an odd book for children, it actually offers very good advice on some things that are valuable lessons for children!

I checked out this book from my library and as soon as I get the chance, I am buying a copy for my own collection. Lemony Snicket has such a blunt view of the world that everyone has to appreciate. It's truthful and honest without being depressing. He has a wonderful grasp on the world.

This book is a collection of quotes by Lemony Snickett. As with all of his books, there is a dark humor to the book. He has a way of putting everything in a negative light, and this book is no exception. This is a quick, enjoyable read.

This book is a collection of passages and phrases from the Series of Unfortunate Events. Thbe quotes are witty and interesting, but taken out of the context of the series, they lose some of their punch.

I feel like it's not really fair to call this another book that I have read, because so much of it is reprints from the various Unfortunate books. Maybe half? There are some fun things in this book, and it is a very fast read. I don't know - I just don't think I "get" Snicket the way others do. I
Show More
mean, I guess I can't be surprised. I hate conflict in my media (I don't like dramas on TV or at the movies).

If you like looking at things differently and do not appreciate inspirational quotes than you will probably enjoy this book. I continue to enjoy Snicket's depressing humor.

This is the kind of book that you read when you're not exactly in the best of the moods. It's just a series of interesting/funny quotes about things that happen in your daily life and you never really stopped to think about them. It's easy to be read, fun and the sort of book you'll probably want

to read more than once.

Oh how I wish I avoided this book. Because it sucked.

This is a nothing book filled with random meandering quotes and thoughts with very little purpose. Written in the same vein as the Series of Unfortunate Events, only diehard Lemony Snicket fans will appreciate this parody of a self-help book.

Frankly, it was depressing. More depressing than the Series of Unfortunate Events books because they only concern the Baudelaire's whereas this tackles thoughts and advice based in one own's life.

I would've been happier without reading. 1 star.
