Description
"Relishing their newfound feelings for each other, Korra and Asami leave the Spirit World, but find nothing in Republic City but political hijinks and human vs. spirit conflict. A pompous developer plans to turn the new spirit portal into an amusement park, potentially severing an already tumultuous connection with the spirits. What's more, the triads have realigned and are in a brutal all-out brawl at the city's borders--where hundreds of evacuees have relocated! In order to get through it all, Korra and Asami vow to look out for each other--but first, they've got to get better at being a team and a couple!"--

I loved the Legend of Korra TV series, so I was super excited for the comic. And it is indeed super awesome! The characters are just like they are in the show, in both art and voice. The action scenes are well-drawn and capture the movement that's going on. And there are finally queer characters!

Now can the idiotic fanboys stop claiming that Korra and Asami are 'just friends'? (Or stop with all the other excuses they make?)
Korra and Asami are a couple in this TPB. Period. End of sentence. Who knows if it'll be forever, or if it'll be smooth or bumpy, who cares, they are a couple.
They go on vacation into the Spirit World in the final episode of Legend of Korra, and we get to see some of that vacay here in this book.
And then when they come home they start telling people that they're a couple. Korra's parents, Kya, Mako, Opal, Tinora, Bolin, etc., etc. There are a lot of good conversations, especially with Kya, where we learn Kya is a lesbian too (I know, three women loving women in one universe, whatever will happen....)
Oh, and there was a non-relationship story too wasn't there. A power struggle between Underworld guys for control of the city as well as the entrance to the Spirit World in Republic City.
I cannot wait for the second in this series (and the third) I had been a little worried that maybe I was building up this short little TPB a bit too much, but, it totally and utterly surpassed even my wildest imaginings.

If you loved the final scene of The Legend of Korra series, you'll love this book. It expands on Korra and Asami's new relationship, and touches on the differences between each nation's LGBTQ acceptance level. It treats the subject with respect, and I'm sure LGBTQ kids and teens will be thrilled to
As far as the Turf Wars part of the plot, it seems a bit like a retread from the animated series. They have a successful formula and they're sticking to it, I suppose. They always find a way to expand on a modern world problem, it looks like this season's will be the commercialization of absolutely everything, and I'm not going to complain about that. A pithier title might have been The Legend of Korra: This is Why We Can't Have Nice Things.
Looking forward to the next book.

This comic directly continues the story told in the animated series it is based on, and I think it is a very strong successor.
