Description

What a darn stupid contraption! The 1st Columbia San Francisco Bicycle Race seems like the perfect opportunity for Albert Overman to impress the nation with his revolutionary design. But when a rival manufacturer hires two goons to intercept him, its up to Lucky Luke to save the day once more. The lonesome cowboy will find himself swapping stirrups for pedals as he heads west in the saddle of Overmans invention. Will he make it to the starting line in time, or will the dawning of the modern age be stopped by ruthless thugs, stubborn hillbillies, and wary Apache? And what will Jolly Jumper think of his cowboy changing steeds?

The art style of Mawil is really not my kind of thing, but I found the humour to be surprisingly solid, and the story premise feels both inventive and tried-and-true Lucky Luke-formulaic at the same time. I got several out-loud chuckles out of this, and at two points actually stopped reading to go

show something in the comic to my wife. Definitely worth a gander even to a casual fan.

A mildly amusing tale of Lucky Luke trying to return a bicycle to its inventor in time for a big race. The story is kind of fun, but I really hate the art.
