This attempt at introducing a WildStorm character (that I amittedly have no familiarity at all with) into the DCU during the New 52 relaunches starts out promising, following an ex-special forces conman as he is abducted by aliens and suddenly is the lone person on the planet who knows of the

ongoing secret invasion. But then it quickly becomes a generic actionfest, and about halfway through the volume, a hard-to-follow, hard-to-care-about mess on top of it, as each issue skips ahead in time to do some poorly explained crossover or other. Too bad. The premise was intriguing, and there were some pretty cool moments here and there.

Grifter is like the DC Punisher to me. I really enjoyed this because I liked Grifter's attitude and just plain, sort of anti-hero bubble about him. It was a pretty good surprise title that I wasn't really expecting much from. Definitely interested to read the next volume.
