Local notes

Contains:
* The Beast of Vargu, set in 1962. Hellboy investigates missing people's cases in the Carpathian Mountains in Romania.
* The Secret God of the Roma, set directly after The Beast of Vargu. Hellboy learns the myth of the Roma's secret deity.
* Saturn Returns, set in 1975. Hellboy, B.P.R.D. Agent Kinsley and FBI Special Agent Oates investigate a New Hampshire trove of dead bodies dating back decades. Meanwhile, Liz Sherman runs away from the B.P.R.D. base and tries to live hidden in New Haven, Connecticut.
* Krampusnacht, set in December 1975. A mysterious old man has made a nightmarish display in a church, and Hellboy comes to visit -- as he intended.
* Return of the Lambton Worm, set in 1970 in North Yorkshire, England. Hellboy, professor Bruttenholm and a local archeologist investigate the tomb of Sir John Lambton.

The last story is set earlier than the rest, and should despite its placement in the volume read first, as it provides the start of a thematic throughline paid off in "Krampusnacht".
