Kyle Rayner's appearance in this story is set following the events of the "Sinestro Corps War" storyline of 2007/2008 (published in various Sinestro Corps specials, Green Lantern vol. 4 #21-25 and Green Lantern Corps vol. 2 #14-19).
This issue also includes the two-page "The Origin of Parallax", wherein is retold the story of how Parallax, the physical embodiment of fear, came to be, took control of Hal Jordan, and later Kyle Rayner.
