I have always heard wonderful things about Danielle Steels writing, but this is the second book I have read by her, and I must say I was not impressed. Perhaps her early work was wonderful; I don't know as I don't remember reading anything by her when I was
This was a short book, and it had a lot of potentials. It was interesting up until about the halfway mark, and then it just became repetitive and, to tell the truth, predictable and boring.

"Complications" by Danielle Steel
My Opinion:
'Complications' was just what this story was all about...the reopening of the infamous Louis XVI hotel. Will anything ever be the same for this Paris
I was provided a free advance reader copy from Random House Publishing Group - Ballantine Books in exchange for my honest review on Net Galley.
Steel’s writing is very good and will keep you reading about her characters even as you’re wondering when you’ll understand why she wrote the book in the first place. The characters are well drawn and interesting, if somewhat stereotypical. The two main characters, Gabrielle and Alistair, find that in life’s complications are “both the questions and the answers, the hidden solutions, and unexpected blessings.”
If you are a die-hard Danielle Steel fan, you’ll like (but likely not love) this outing. If you’re not a fan, you may be disappointed, but may find several tidbits throughout the book that resonate with you.
My thanks to Delacorte Press and NetGalley for an eARC.
Dedication to her children and list of her works are shown at the beginning of the book.
This author, I've read most of her works, tells a story and with the descriptions makes you feel as if you are there.
Story starts and comes with history of the hotel that is being
Internet and phones are still an issue.
We learn of Gabrielle and she's by herself after divorcing Arthur as he has a new very younger wife and child.
Patrick is there and meets his male lover...
Richard and his girl are there-others think on their honeymoon.
With phones not working there is no way to quickly get a heart attack patient help, another man is dead and so many have no idea what is going on.
New owners of the hotel will not like the downfall of the first week of the reopening...
Story follows them all: the heart attack patient needs approval from his spouse but Judythe is not his spouse...
Alastair has just a few months to live, is there and knows a bit about medical things and took over with the defibulator at the hotel.
He is there to just reassure her and help with French as she's American. Alistair had also spent some time with Gabrielle having a drink before he headed to the hospital.
Over time and treatment Alastair has traveled to visit NY to see Gabrielle and even meet her daughters.
They spend time together all over the country in art fairs for Gabby's clients. So real when they are visiting Paris again and jewel robbers are there...
Love how this one ends, didn't see it happening this way. You are brought up to date on the people of that night at the Louis XVI hotel in Paris.
I received this review book from Random House Publishing Group - Ballantine via Net Galley and this is my honest opinion.

Danielle Steel is a master and has been for so long. This book holds up to her stellar storytelling keeping the reader intrigued from start to finish. I highly recommend this book.
Centered around an Exclusive Paris Hotel. Each person who arrives is facing a (personal) challenge. Love, friendship, danger and scandal touch the lives of those who sign in. One thing for sure lives will be changed when they walk through the doors (of) Hotel Louis
A contemporary women's fiction moving at a steady pace. Each character has their own complicated story, with a bit of mystery, danger, romance, and scandal. A good read.
