Fiction. Romance. Humor (Fiction.) LGBTQIA+ (Fiction.) HTML: "Listeners will have a devilishly grand time with this rambunctiously robust performance by stellar narrators Quinn Riley and Stephanie Németh-Parker." - AudioFile Magazine (Earphones Award Winner) From the critically acclaimed author of Something to Talk About comes Meryl Wilsner's Mistakes Were Made, a sharp and sexy rom-com about a college senior who accidentally hooks up with her best friend's mom. When Cassie Klein goes to an off-campus bar to escape her school's Family Weekend, she isn't looking for a hookup??it just happens. Buying a drink for a stranger turns into what should be an uncomplicated, amazing one-night stand. But then the next morning rolls around and her friend drags her along to meet her mom??the hot, older woman Cassie slept with. Erin Bennett came to Family Weekend to get closer to her daughter, not have a one-night stand with a college senior. In her defense, she hadn't known Cassie was a student when they'd met. To make things worse, Erin's daughter brings Cassie to breakfast the next morning. And despite Erin's better judgement??how could sleeping with your daughter's friend be anything but bad???she and Cassie get along in the day just as well as they did last night. What should have been a one-time fling quickly proves impossible to ignore, and soon Cassie and Erin are sneaking around. Worst of all, they start to realize they have something real. But is being honest about the love between them worth the cost? A Macmillan Audio production from St. Martin's P… (more)

"Mistakes Were Made" by Meryl Wilsner

My Assessment:

Wow, what will happen when Cassie, 21, a college senior, hooks up with one of her best friends, Parker's mom, Erin, 38, who just
Show More
happened to be a doctor, during a family weekend? Will this be something that will continue between Cassie and Erin after these two find out who was who, or will it 'escalates into something more than either of the two had planned?'

Be ready for a very spicy situation that will bring it all together 'sapphic age gap, family, taboo relationship, friendship, sexy scenes, love, happiness, and finally, a HEA.' There will be many points of view in this moving reading and secrets one will have to keep up in this LGBTQ read. And this story will give one plenty of thought long after the read. So, if this is your kind of read, pick up "Makes We Made" and see how this author brings it out to the reader.

Contemporary F-F romance. Forbidden love troupe.
Cassie hooks up with a sexy older woman at a bar and finds out the next morning it’s her best friend’s mother. They continue their hidden relationship as their attraction and feelings grow. The main problem:
neither is sure where their affair is going or what they want to do about it.

For Cassie, it’s her first long term relationship as she finishes college. For Erin, her daughter is the most important part of her life, But Erin is finding that Cassie is simply making her happy.
A lot of self discovery (for Cassie) between college drinking bouts and building life long friendships. When Cassie says she doesn’t know how to do “feelings”, that’s not an exaggeration.
At the heart, it was fulfilling to read and follow the emotional growth of Cassie, and best friend Parker as their relationship deepens and changes with Erin and their individual connections.

I received a copy of this from NetGalley.

Okay, on the one hand, I can't fault the writing. The romance was exciting and interesting, with lots of potential peril, and the sex scenes were steamy. But the path and the outcome of the whole scenario was pretty ludicrous and unbelievable, absolute kink wish fulfillment. There's just no way
Show More
this scenario would turn out this way! Don't try this on your friends' moms!

Erin and Cassie pick each other up at a bar. Unbeknownst to them, Erin is the mother of Cassie's college best friend, Parker. Plus there is the 18 year age difference between them. So they know their attraction is wrong on so many levels. Yet they can't keep away from each other. Will the romance
Show More
survive as they try to keep it a secret from Parker? Will Parker find out? Mistakes Were Made was a fun book. Be prepared from graphic sex scenes, though.

This was such a cute book. I listened to it on audio and enjoyed it. I definitely oooh'd and awww'd and "get it together" at parts. It made me laugh and grimace. Overall, I really enjoyed it, a fun read/listen. Loved the LGBTQ+.

Loved it! The characters really meshed, even as they were dealing with the improbability of their situation. Good move to make Cassie slightly older than Erin's daughter. The relationship was built beautifully. At this point I'm a big fan of the author, even though F/F isn't my go-to.

I don’t mind the age gap… but Cassie being 21 is definitely too young for me, like a few other readers, it would have made me more comfy if she was at least 4 or 5 years older. But once I blanked that out of my mind it was pretty good. I’ll saw Parker’s response to the relationship seemed
Show More
way more mature than she was through the rest of the book. But after that I’m okay with the build up between Emma and Erin.

If you're looking for a good old-fashioned bodice ripping romance with sapphics, this is the book for you.

I loved Erin and Cassie's relationship and how it grew. As an asexual, sometimes the sex scenes were a bit much for me, but i recognize their importance in this particular story.

I spent the
Show More
second half of the book waiting for Parker to find out, but I wasn't expecting what happened to happen the way it did!

The humor is fantastic and I find that the college age characters really felt like college kids, which was perfect. Overall, a fun adult romance novel!

Good characters, good story line, but all of that watered down with much too much lesbian porn.
