A modern German woman born in Turkey describes her work in a school for children who need more help than in the normal schools. She describes the children's difficulties and her problems dealing with them and their families. She also asks questions about the future of these children and how their

lives could be improved. Being Moslem herself, and speaking Turkish helps her in dealing with the families, as many of them are immigrants.

I liked the rather matter-of-fact way that she writes. There is no pulling at your heart-strings, although some of these children could easily be written up to break your heart. This is just the way things are, and any changes that will really help will have to deal with these facts in the same unemotional way that Fr. Durmaz does.

For those learning German: Fairly straightforward, well written German on a problem side of modern German society. If you are interested in integration or education give it a try.
