Description

A suburban woman discovers her own wild spirit in this "suspenseful...dark, romantic meditation on what it means to be human"(The New Yorker) from the bestselling author of The Rules of Magic. Robin Moore, coping with a divorce and a troubled teen-aged son, impulsively rescues a strange man from a psychiatric ward--a beautiful, uncivilized innocent who has been raised in the wilderness and possesses no more sophistication than a child. But when she brings him home to her perfectly ordered neighborhood, the events that follow cause Robin to question her wisdom and doubt her own heart--and, ultimately, to change all of her ideas about love and humanity. "Her richest and wisest, as well as her boldest, novel to date."--The New York Times Book Review… (more)

Jodi Picoult, my favorite author. Not one that I really loved, but loved all the same!

This was a really good story, though at times I wondered where it was going. On top of that, it was really sad, and didn't have the happy ending I was hoping for. It did end better than I expected.

This was my first Alice Hoffman novel.I picked it up because I read an interview where Jodi Picoult said Hoffman was one of her favorite authors. Although it was an easy read and the first few pages hooked me, I quickly lost interest and never cared about the characters. It took me a month to

I've written so many times about Alice Hoffman, what more can I really say? She's amazing. She creates a magickal world we all want to believe in.

short, intriguing, but just didn't quite get me, perhaps because I just didn't empathize with the characters as they were too superficially evoked

I hope that eventually I'll be able to read all the books written by Alice Hoffman. I certainly have a long way to go but managed to quickly read Second Nature. I liked the well-developed characters, the concept, and of course, the writing style. She usually writes with more mysticism than she did

in this novel, but she has written a novel that I enjoyed very much. It has depth, emotion, suspense, realistic settings, and a secret, sad romance.

Alice Hoffman knows how to write about human nature. This novel has several story lines among its characters and they all deal with how we react to various situations in our lives. Thought-provoking book.
