The bonds of sisters are explored in this book by Kristin Hannah.

The story explores the lives of two sisters who have gone their separate ways in life and have chosen not to be a part of each other's lives. When life throws a wrench in their lives they are pulled back together to work through what
Show More
separated them to begin with and make a new start being sisters, being family. A great story about family dynamics, coming apart, coming together, love, loss, anger and healing.

Meghan Dontess & Claire Cavenaugh are sisters who really don't know how to communicate anymore after their tough childhood. Meghan a successful divorce lawyer is dead set against love after all of her trials and tribulations between childhood, a failed marriage and dealing with everyone else's
Show More
divorces. Claire loves so much even with what their childhood brought to her and Meghan however she has waited many years to get married or to find just the right man while raising her daughter by herself and running a successful camground. What a great story of the two sisters coming back into each others life because Claire falls in love hard and fast finally, then when everything looks so good for her, she is diagnosed with an inoperabe brain tumor. While with Claire planning her wedding Meghan undeniably falls in love once again, but pushs hard to keep it at an arms length. What a wonderful story of sisters coming together once again and actually being there for each other through some very difficult times.

Whew! What a ride! Without giving spoilers, this book kept me on the edge of my seat and caught me by surprise more than once. It really gave an accurate picture of the relationship of sisters, and the ebb and flow of the intimacy of family, and yet captures the priority we all put on what really

matters to us.

When an older sister does what she thinks is best for her little sister it causes a rift between the two. Many years later a shooting, wedding and serious illness finally bring these two sisters together again. Although I found the story line a little unbelievable at times I still enjoyed this book.

Actually read this after Distant Shores, which is good, since it's related and takes place after. Despite there being just a few too many bounces between characters, I still liked it. Just not as much as the other two. Maybe I'm reading too many by the same author in a row.

Between Sisters knocked the socks right off of me. I wasn’t expecting such a heartfelt book.

There was so much going on, but somehow I never lost track. I connected to every character. Each had their own place in the book. It was easy for me to understand what they were all about.
It’s a story
Show More
about two sisters who bonded when they were children because of the way they were brought up. Meghan was there for Claire while their mother wasn’t. They shared everything. There was a point when Meghan had to make the choice of leaving Claire with her father. They have grown further apart each year that they had been separated. They both have grown in different ways that the other doesn’t understand.

In Between Sisters we see the life of Meghan and Claire, two sisters have lost their relationship, but as life happens they regain the friendship and the bond they once had. The separation had changed them both. Where they use to be the best of friends, now they hardly speak. Neither of them spoke about the time when Claire was left behind with her father and Meghan walked away.
Circumstances has brought them back together. It isn’t easy for either of them. They don’t say the words that they know they ought to. They get along like they ought to, but they are distant. They struggle with their new relationship and with the old relationship that they had and their past.

Again circumstances, have bonded them like never before. They aren’t the same young girls, but now grown women.

It may sound like another novel you may have read in the past, but let me assure you that this story is explosive. It grabs a hold of your heart and your emotions. It’s a wonderful story written to make you smile, laugh, shake your head, cry and appreciate the life you have.

Without a doubt, it’s the best book I have read this year and one of my all time favorites.

Screw you, Between Sisters, using a 36 point font...

Aside from that, this book was a fast read (not a surprise, as I could see all of the words on a page from across the room). Again, very Lifetime movie-ish from Kristin Hannah, but like I've said before, I'm not above Lifetime movies. Point me to
Show More
a mini-marathon starring Meredith Baxter and I'm there.

Meg and Claire are sisters that were separated years ago but on working on rebuilding their relationship. Along they way they each fall in love and learn to love and trust others. I enjoyed following all of the relationships as they grew and really enjoyed how all of the characters worked through

their problems.

A hot-shot attorney, Meghann Dontess is miserable. Unfinished business with her mother and especially her sister haunt her. This book is the resolution. Easy, reasonably predictable, but an enjoyable light summer read.

A real tear jerker that had me glued to the story even though the romance took a back seat. It was sometimes slow at the beginning but maybe that was needed because I identified with the emotions of each main character. Attorney Meg has a forced vacation and ends up planning a wedding for her

estranged sister.

I did the ugly cry reading this book. I just love all her books.

Not my favorite Hannah book, but an okay read. This is one of her older efforts, and I felt the characters were not as well written as in later books. It was also very clear early on who would end up involved with whom. Bobby was the only surprise character.

This book is a fast read. This is about how two sisters are there for each other through ups and downs. Too bad I have no sister myself.

I just complained how the problem about the sister having cancer is solved easily. Unrealistic, I must say. But this touched me so that's good.

After a bad childhood with a neglectful mother, two sisters have a distant and complicated relationship at best. As a divorce lawyer, Meghann finds herself running to save her sister from marrying a man that she met at a bar a couple of weeks ago. He is also a felon and has been married 3 times
Show More
before. At the very least she needs to get her to sign a prenup. Things dont go according to plan for either of them and they must figure out how to let go of the guilt, shame and blame they are carrying over from the past..

Picked up because I previously enjoyed another Kristin Hannah novel. At first I was worried I wouldn't identify with the characters, because they're older than what I normally read and in more complex life situations. However, Hannah has yet to fail to draw me into her stories. Her characters and
Show More
their relationships are full of interesting layers.

Sibling relationships can be complicated, especially half-sisters with a large age gap. Throw in a undependable mother and hardship, and you've got a life-time of therapy. Meghann Dontess happens to be in therapy. As a divorce attorney, she hates the fact that her, somewhat-estranged, younger sister is rushing into marriage with a man she barely knows. But Meghann is forced to deal with the situation and some of the skeletons in her closet as she plans her sister's dream wedding.

I should know better than to read a Kristin Hannah book at work. I was a crying mess as I was sitting in the office at lunch! Another amazing read from this author. This did have a slower start for me than her other books, but once it picked up it never let go. Expect an emotional rode with this

one and get the tissues ready.

Between Sisters by Kristin Hannah
Love this author's works and although longer than others they contain so much.
This story starts out with acknowledges then the story begins.
Family camp that the dad still runs with help from his daughter, Claire.
Story follows Joe is a worker that picks fruit at the
Show More
vineyards along with immigrants where he becomes gets hot and wants to move on, nightmares still scare him. He was once married to Diane and he just wants to move on, low profile.
Love the location of WA, so many of the destinations mentioned we have visited.
Like hearing of the other locations, new places to me, so well described.
Claire and her daughter Allison are working at the camp and she plans to go with high school friends for their annual vacation. She only sees herself as a failure when she talks to her sister.
Her sister from a different father, Meg is very accomplished lawyer and can't be bothered with the camp. She has many sexual partners to fill the void along with a lot of pills from her doctor to help get through the night.
Chapters go back in time to events that occurred so you can understand why things are done they way they are 10 years later.
After Claire gets married it's determined she has a brain tumor and she wants to keep it away from her spouse who's off recording songs in TN.
Meg is there for her whenever she needs her, researching the cures. Joe has some knowledge but it's in his past and it could be he can't go there....
I received this book from National Library Service for my BARD (Braille Audio Reading Device).

My only objection is that I kept sobbing towards the end of last night. My husband thought something was very wrong with me.

Two half-sisters with a celebrity mom, Claire Sullivan and Meghann Dontess. Due to neglect and abandonment by their mom, Meghan, the older was a stand-in mom for her younger
Show More
sister, Claire. When their mother completely forgot about them, Meghan panicked and called Claire's stepfather who was not even aware of Claire. He came and took them away, Meghann felt rejected and ran away.

Years later, Meghann is a prominent divorce lawyer making a lot of money and her little sister helped her father with his small resort in Hayden, Washington.
Megahnnis always lonely and uses alcohol and one-night stands to numb her broken feelings. She longs for her sister but refuses to take action recommended by her psychiatrist. Claire gets asked to a getaway with a group of her long-time friends and meets Bobby Austin. Claire falls hard for a country music singer who never got a big break.

A drifter with a big secret misses his sister and reluctantly returns to Hayden. He feels guilty and has never been able to live with his grief.

The characters were drawn so well that I got attached to them and wanted a sequel. I am always drawn to character-centered, especially family books are my favorite.
