The Library:
Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung Library is run by the Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung Office in Southeast Asia, Hanoi Office (RLS SEA). The RLS SEA Library is an office-personal library of 700 hundred political education books and materials. Anyone is invited to visit us for reading and discussion at:

What books does the library have?
The Library has books and a number of NGO materials on various social and political topics, a significant of which produced by partners of RLS SEA’s partner projects, from law, governance, to climate change and energy - all available for public access.

Why does RLS open this library?
By opening this Library, RLS hopes to contribute to public awareness and knowledge of contemporary social and political issues for Vietnamese citizens and those interested in such topics.

Who is the library for?
Everyone is welcomed at our library for reading, book borrowing/exchange, and discussion, especially young people.

We also wish to partner with like-minded libraries. We welcome any amount of book donations and opportunities to host joint political education activities

OPENINGS

The library is open from 9 am to 17 pm on Wednesday and Friday weekly for members. Please register as a member first.

However, because the library is also our foundation's workplace, send a message to reserve your place ONE DAY before you plan to come through:

This is the online catalogue for all of our library's books. You can search for give-away books, books that can be borrowed, and all categorized books here.

LIBRARY RULES

Procedures
>> Visitors must register as a library member to access the library.
>> Members can borrow certain books by placing a book deposit or become a priority member.
>> Members can only borrow a maximum of 3 books at a time.
>> Members must return borrowed books within 3 weeks or request a one-time extension of 3 weeks.
>> Members can have their membership revoked should they fail to return books.
>> Members must reserve their place at least ONE DAY before coming.

Inside the library
>> Members can access the library, reading room, kitchen, and office’s toilets.
>> No food and drinks but water are allowed in the reading room.
>> Members must not damage books and the office's facility in any way.
>> Members must keep quiet to not disturb others reading or working.
>> Members must place books into the designated basket after finishing reading.
MEMBER

To become a member, you need to register and receive confirmation of your online account to check out books on librarycat.org/lib/Rosaluxhanoi. As a member, you can:

>> Come and read any book at our library in from 9 am - 17 pm on Wednesday and Sunday.
>> Borrow certain books from our library by placing a book deposit which is related to political education.
>> Participate in book exchange 1 for 1: bring one political education book and one give-away book.
>> Receive updates about our new books/giveaways.
>> Participate in future activities on political education (book discussion, debate, etc).

PRIORITY MEMBER

To become a Priority Member, you need to: Register as a member of the library and donate at least five books to our library. We are looking for books in politics, policies, social issues, etc. As a priority member, you can:

>> Enjoy all the perks of a library member
>> Borrow certain books from our library WITHOUT placing a book deposit!
>> Borrow books from our partners libraries!
We are looking for partner libraries to promote both our collections, by reserving a space within our library for your books, and in your library for ours. We also welcome prospects of co-hosting public events using our spaces.

Through this, we hope to facilitate connections and public access to our books, in the spirit of education and knowledge.

In April 2009, the RLS Regional Representative Office for Southeast Asia was opened in Hanoi managing activities and partnerships in Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar. The Hanoi office of the Rosa-Luxemburg-Stiftung Southeast Asia embraces a mission of supporting the transformation of countries such as Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, and Myanmar into participatory, socially just, ecologically sustainable, and democratic societies. The RLS SEA Regional Representative Office in Hanoi currently cooperates with 15 partner organizations, including academic institutions, universities, non-governmental organizations, think tanks, government institutions, and parliaments.
