Background: A collection of short stories that delve into the lives of the characters from the Percy Jackson and the Olympians and The Heroes of Olympus series. The collection includes a passage from Luke's diary, a Percy Jackson adventure, a tale about Leo at Camp Half Blood, and a debut story from

Review: I was laughing so hard in my car while listening to these tales, I was on the edge of my seat at other times, and I loved listening to this collection. I read all of the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series and loved them, the adventure, suspense, mystery, and characters blew me away; and the shorts about Luke and Percy in The Demigod Diaries, were exactly like I expected. WONDERFUL and insightful. You learn more about the characters, in Luke's diary, we hear about him and Talia before they get to Camp Half Blood. In Percy's story, there is insight into what is happening after the fight for Olympus, and the drama to come in the Heroes of Olympus series.

I haven't read the Heroes books yet, but apparently I really need to start, because Leo's story was the one that had be laughing. I am pretty sure the best was a quote about killing everything and having nutmeg...you'll see, it's an LOL moment.

As for Son of Magic, I was in awe of Haley's writing talent. You can tell the differences he has from his father, and I was blow away by his amazing story telling. In this story you learn about why monsters can sense Demi-gods and how they got their power. It was mysterious and suspenseful the whole way through, and you really want to kill the monster causing all the chaos.

Even if you have not read the series, go grab this, the short stories are easy to get through and explain themselves well.

This was a fun collection of short stories from Camp Halfblood and the demigods. It also has some trivia, activities, and pictures. For fans of the Percy Jackson series.

The many characters of Rick Riordan's popular series are given a chance to tell an adventure and be interviewed in this episodic chapter book. It is a great way to introduce a resistant reader to the style of R. Riordan and some of the major characters without having to commit to an entire series.
Riordan's style is fast paced, current and humorous. At times his humor plays off of his character's insecurities such as when Percy is unsure of how to act around his demigod girl friend, Annabeth. At times the visual descriptions of the monsters are humorous. Firebreathing Cacus wears a red velour housecoat with matching slippers. Riordan successfully paces his stories with constant conflict, suspense or battles. It is written much like the pace and timing of a big screen adventure movie with little down time for serious life issues or detailed explanations. I enjoyed the book and think it would appeal to boys especially.

My kids bought this book for me for Mother's Day. I've read the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series, along with most of the books in the Heroes of Olympus series. The Demigod Diaries includes short stories featuring characters from those two series. It's a great option for readers who are caught

up with the series, but still want a little more of Percy and his friends. The final short story in the collection is by Rick Riordan's son Haley, and it's a nicely done story that answers some questions about the Mist and other details of the Demigods' world.

A filler, an in-between book, that provides some addition background to the characters lives / stories from the 'Percy Jackson' series, and the 'Heroes Of Olympus' series -- but not really adding anything to the main plot, although some of the information might be used in later installations of the

'Heroes Of Olympus' series.

After the The Demigod Files , a companion to the best-selling series Percy Jackson & the Olympians, took us to the inside world of demigods. Here comes another great book that would surely love by every avid fans of the series out there. If you've totally read the first series and reading the next

one, I know that there are still some questions on your mind that remained unanswered. And I think this one did a great job to get all those things out of our minds that will give answers to our bucket of questions. And in my opinion, I think Rick really assured that this would appeal to the readers because he included the stuff that what most fans really wanted to see. Yes, there is Percabeth celebrating their first monthsary but with a little twist (yeah, that includes helping another god), the diary of Luke's early life which I think everyone is curious about and of course our dude, Leo Valdez! Who doesn't like that guy?

Okay. There are still few games included in this book that as easy as before, an interview with Hermes's snakes, and also a debut story from Rick Riordan's son, Haley, entitled Son of Magic that will let us know what happened to the demigods who fought in Krono's army, how the mist works, and why monsters can smell demigods. Those are just some of our questions waiting to be unveiled in this book. And I'm assuring you this gonna be a fun read.

Yes, at last! We got a chance to see a small part of Luke Castellan's early life, in his own perspective, with Thalia the way how they struggled to keep themselves alive after running away from their own families. And also how they met such a promising little girl who shared with the same fate named, Annabeth. The short story allows us to see the hardships Luke endured in his life, how he lost his faith to the gods and why he started hating them even his godly father Hermes. But the story focuses more on the day they met Halycon Green, a son of Apollo, and how they managed to escape from his house.

Seeing one of Luke's adventures is great, because I really wanted to know what happenend to him in his own point of view. And I think despite of his wrong deeds, we still like this guy. And as to the other stories, they are still the same as before, like fighting with the most dangerous monsters and managed to keep themselves alive. Since this is a special book like the first one, I really wish to see the heroes in a normal day, I mean a day with NO quest, fighting monsters, or doing another favor from a god. I know I'm not the only one who wants the same thing. Because sometimes it gets tiring, seeing them doing the same thing all over again. Isn't that good to see Percabeth enjoying their date without a quest to think about? Or the other demigods to do their own stuff without worrying about how to kill an annoying earth goddess? That would be really great even in just a day.

And about the debut story of Haley, considering his age at 16, at that moment of writing this book, it is good that he was abled to explain some things to us despite of some flaws and gave us another a new demigod to love. All in all, this is good.

I probably should have waited on reading this book until I had read the first couple of the latest series. Ah, well. Good set of stories, though.

Not a must-buy or must-read, but worth a look if you're already a major fan of Camp Half-Blood. Riordan's regular readers will find that this fills in some plot gaps and provides some character history in his usual teenage-snark fashion; the illustrations are done very well, particularly the
Show More
diagram of Bunker 9 and most of the demigod portraits. The puzzles are just filler, though, and the story by Riordan's son Haley, while good for a 16-year-old, doesn't quite match the quality and tone of the other selections. Not a bad way to warm up for the last two Heroes of Olympus books, though.

I listened to this book because some of the students who use my library told me that the book was very unique and interesting. I did enjoy the stories and I did enjoy the background information the author shared as introductions to some of the stories. I enjoyed the straight forward writing style
Show More
of this author. This writing about something old and bringing it into the modern world is popular among the students. Most of this author's characters are believable. I will seek out this author again.

The final story in this collection is so good!

The first couple stories were a bit weak - not terrible, but not as good as I expect from Rick Riordan. Then again, it's a bit much to expect outstanding novels and outstanding shorts from the same author. The final story, by the author's son, knocks

it out of the park.

This book had beatiful, interesting stories that fed my hunger for more information about the Percy Jackson world and I loved it!

The Diary of Luke Castellan

I think if I had to rate this story on its own I'd give it 3.5 stars.
I liked learning more about Luke and Thalia's journey and it warmed my
Show More
heart to see Luke being all nice and protective over Thalia.
And I adored the moment where they met Annabeth and he gave her that knife.
I felt like an overexcited school girl while reading that because I had to try so hard so I wouldn't squeal.

Percy Jackson and the staff of Hermes

This one is a solid 5stars!!!!!
I loved it so much! I missed reading things from Percy's POV because let's face it, no one really can compare to his sarcasm.
The Percabeth moments in this story were just too much for my little feels!!
I also love George and Martha so much! they were just amazing!!

Leo Valdez and the quest for Buford
This one was a 4stars!
I love Leo Valdez, and once again his humor just brightened my day!
The quest was so cool and fun and it allowed me to see more of what happened while Percy was fighting Giants with the Romans!
Piper, Leo and Jason had to fight these crazy followers of Mr. D in order to get Bufford back and save the camp from explosion and it was amazing!

Son Of Magic
This one was a 3.5 stars story.
I loved how it talked about things I kept wondering about throughout two series.
The whole "monsters can smell demigods" things, the mist, and what happened to the followers of Koronos!
I was so impressed to know that it was actually written by Mr. Rick's 16 y.o son!
He definitely has a lot of potential to become a great author, probably even better than his father!

All in all these were so much fun to go through!

A nice complement to the PJO and HOO series. Answered some questions about how the world in these books works and gave some different perspectives on characters like Luke and the half bloods of Knonos's army. Good to read, but probably not something I would revisit that often.

More Riordan backlog catch-up!

I've been meaning to get to this one for quite a while. This one is a collection of short stories that are all brilliant and different, talking about vastly different character from very different places in the canonical storyline.

We get a harrowing story of Luke,
Show More
back at the very beginning with the girls, and the haunting prophecy that he denies ever being real (and we all know comes to be and breaks all the hearts with). We get Annabeth & Percy's anniversary, that involves forgetfulness, seaweebrains, Hermes and his snakes and so much more, making me laugh and smile. A Leo Valdez story with the followers of Dionysus, and very important things about treating your "friends," no matter what shape they come in, better.

I really only skimmed the Haley-authored story, which was different from the main and is the only reason I left this at 4 stars and not 5.
