This book and kit wants to be a complete beginner's toolkit. It's very pretty although a little unwieldy; I had cut off the plastic section years ago. It's not a bad book, but there are other books that are better. I would say that the alphabets in the book do not give a lot of guidance. The

included kit is of the "just add water" variety (including some small watercolors), and the kit quality is okay. However, the materials and instructions in the projects do not match the kit at all--e.g., gold paint is included instead of gold leaf powder. The projects are nice, but nothing to write home about. There are some nice flourish and border ideas in the book, but that only accounts for a few pages. All in all, I would not recommend this book unless you have no idea where else to start in terms of equipment, or you are just building a library of project ideas.
