I started reading the Shopaholic series in 2004. I loved the first book, Confessions of a Shopaholic and immediately jumped into Shopaholic Takes Manhattan, which is still my favorite of the series. It’s filled with humorous situations, however it takes a real look on the consequences of
Show More
impulsive shopping. I read books 3 and 4, but when Shopaholic & Baby was released, I started it and then put it down.

Fast forward to 2009. It’s two years later and I’ve finally picked this up again to read. I decided to listen to the audio book and the narrator, Rosalyn Landor, did a fantastic job of bringing the characters to life. Becky and her husband, Luke, are expecting their first child. Always wanting to have the latest “in” thing, Becky convinces Luke they must have Dr. Venetia Carter as their OB-GYN as she is also the physician to the celebrities. During their initial visit, Becky learns that Dr. Carter and Luke are former school mates and previously dated! Becky is stunned by the news and gradually begins to feel insecure about herself and her marriage.

True to the series, Ms. Kinsella fills the pages with humor as we read about the predicaments Becky finds herself in. Having doubts about her marriage, Becky hires a private detective, only what he discovers is not what she asked for. Becky learns that things are not always what they seem.

So is it a girl or boy? I guess you’ll have to read Shopaholic & Baby to find out!

I loved this book. Okay, the ending was a little corny, but I was entranced by what I assume is the last Shopaholic book. Sophie Kinsella does such an amazing job of keeping the reader on her toes during the entire course of the book. I could not predict the end of this story, and it kept me in
Show More
suspense- and in stiches- for its entirety. I highly recommend this book to any girl or mom. It was a delightful read.

There was a time when I thought Becky was really funny. Now I can't believe how innocent (stupid?!) she is in certain situations. It tires me a little, really, she always makes the same mistakes, and it's dfficult to understand how Luke can love her so much. Well, maybe because she makes him laugh
Show More
and always puts other people first... :)
Anyway, a funny book even though not as good as the the 1st ones in the Shopaholic series or the other 2 outside the series. Hated Venetia!

Another funny book in the Shopaholic series. Becky is pregnant and thinks her husband is having an affair, which of course means she gets herself into some hilarious situations!

Luke and Becky are getting pretty ridiculous. They have a habit of lying to each other that is unappealing, but their intentions are good and Becky has a big heart.

For the sake of closure, I read Shopaholic and Baby. It was a light, fluffy read of course, and very predictable, but I had a very hectic and bad week, so it was a refreshing break from reality. What annoyed me most about the book though was how similar it was to season one of Grey’s Anatomy.
Red-haired perfect beautiful b*tch threatening a relationship? Check. She’s a doctor? Check. Also, Venetia (her name) seems a bit too witchy – yes, I know she’s all “Oh, Becky, tell me if you need help” and everything and turned into a psycho obsessed person, but I think Ms. Kinsella could have fleshed out her character a bit.

In this fifth book of the Shopaholic series, Sophie Kinsella returns to form with her heroine Becky Brandon (nee Bloomwood) and her husband Luke expecting their first child. Some of the comedy is predicatable - few will be surprised to see Becky purchase a pram to use as a shopping cart - but the
Show More
book proceeds lightheartedly with the fun loving spirit of Kinsella's earliest novels. Where as Becky Brandon came off as slightly annoying in Sopaholic and Sister (book 4), in this work she is all heart and from the very first pages readers will remember why they love to laugh alongside her.

With a fifth book about a shopaholic, there can hardly be any surprise what is going to happen. But that's not the point with reading Kinsella's books. This book is perfect for light and funny reading and after a while you start to really like Becky, blonde though she may be. I still don't
Show More
understand why her husband doesn't restrict her more hahaha.

Oh could I relate to Becky Bloomwood in this book, especially since I *LOVE* buying baby things and my children are well-dressed with tons of toys and books. Fluffy, but fun.

Absolutely brilliant, and an excellent finish to the amazing series!!

In Sophie Kinsella's latest book, Becky Brandon redeems herself in my eyes. I started reading the Shopaholic series when they first come out. I used to be a big reader of chick lit but I have lately stopped reading it in the last few years. However, this series was always one of my favorites
Show More
becasue of the humor. I have read all four Shopaholic books up until this one, and I must say, I wasn't blown away by the last book (Shopaholic and Sister) HOWEVER, this book has redeemed the series in my eyes. In this book, Becky is preggers. She is very excited about the baby whose sex she isn't sure of. But on the other hand, her beloved husband Luke could be cheating on her! Is it possible!? This book was a very quick but very fun read!

LOVED this book!! I absolutely adore the Shopaholic series! Sophie Kinsella is the only author that always makes me laugh out loud!! If you want a book that will make you laugh & never want to put it down then check out the Shopaholic series! I hope there will be another one!!

Amusing read, but it was difficult for me to really enjoy because I had a hard time finding Becky that sympathetic. Maybe I'm just not a big enough shopper! Becky did remind me a little of the character in "Legally Blond". Another woman who is dismissed because of her frivolity, when there is a
Show More
smartness underneath that is missed by most.

Loved it, Loved it, Loved it! Best book I've read in a long time and hopefully that doesn't make me dumb. It was a great, easy read with a twisty, turny plot line. Perfect for a cold winter afternoon's read. I hope there are more in this series!

Kinsella didn't let me down. I will admit that "...and Sister" wasn't one of her best, but she redeemed herself with this one. I read it in an evening.

Loved it so so much. Made me feel sick with shock and horror half way through, Becky Bloomwood still has the power to make me want to shop even when she's gone all grown up on me.

for her baby: from the designer nursery , to the latest, coolest pram, to the celebrity, must-have obstetrician. But when the celebrity obstetrician turns out to be Luke's glamorous, intellectual ex-girlfriend, Becky's perfect world starts to crumble. She's shopping for two..but are there three in her marriage?

I liked this book, but didn't enjoy it as much as I wanted to. I did read one of her other books in this series and enjoyed it much more. It is rather funny in parts, especially if your a shopaholic at heart, but don't have the funds to actually be one. ENJOY!!

Becky Bloomwood is up to her usual antics. A fun light read, although a bit heavy on the "affair" Luke is having with his ex-girlfriend. I've realized that you have to read Kinsella's books all in one shot to really appreciate the humour; you simply don't get the same effect reading it bit by bit.

A good time nevertheless.

I am so gonna miss Becky. I really am. I would have to say, all throughout the 5 books, the adventures and journey of Becky has been extremely enjoyable and fun, where i can laugh out loud and even giggle alone in the bus and been totally secluded in the world of Becky. It has been an emotional
Show More
roller coaster experience at times (in the book) where it hit really high up (euphoric status) and really low low, at the point (again, in the book) you think nothing really matters. All the character, has developed, matured, well progressed and well described for each and every book. And i love the part when the series(at any point during the book) would reminisce moments from previous books, and recaps of the plot and storyline.

So this 5th installment of the shopaholic books deals about marriage, fidelity, faith, pregnancy and of course, Becky’s unavoidable moments of white lie and accidental accident of white lies and more misunderstanding and miscommunication. Ooh.. not to mention shopping addiction. Hehe.

“In the end, you have to choose whether or not to trust someone. And I do choose. I do.”

Points: 8.8 out of 10. (because it’s the birth of a new life and the turning point of one’s life) – i know, i always bias towards Kinsella.

The Shopaholic books are too cute. (I'm not like Becky! I'm not!) I originally started reading them as a substitute for Bridget Jones, who sadly only had two books of her own. Becky Bloomwood is very Bridget-esque. But she is also a funny pop heroine in her own right.

really really really great
the main character rebbecca
is really hilarious and know how to get herself in the most odd but funny situations
i really recommend it

This is a quick and light hearted read that didn't involve a lot of thinking if you catch my drift. The whole Shopaholic vehicle I think has run past its course. I have read all the others in the series and after two the novelty has worn off. But nevertheless, Bex's antics still make me laugh and I
Show More
hope that there aren't too many people out there that are truly like her. I have always thought that the series reminds me of an updated I Love Lucy and interestingly enough USA Today on the back of this book says as such. This story obviously revolves around Becky and Luke and the impending birth of her baby. She has not given up her spending ways...they are just now centered around the new baby and less on items for her. She manipulates Luke into agreeing to switch OBs mid stream as she learns about an OB to celebrities that specializes in holistic births including Thai massage. And it comes as no surprise that this OB just so happens to be the single former college girlfriend of her husband. And shenanigans ensue. If you want to escape and have no expectations of reading a Pulitzer prize novel, then this book is for you.

I had a hard time getting into this book, initially, which surprised me because I've always enjoyed the books in the series. Luckily it picked up and turned out to be a great book. I wish it had dealt more with Becky handling the pregnancy, but overall I'm satisfied with how this book played out.

I really like these books. They're such light, fun, quick reads. As the title suggests, Becky is pregnant in this book and gets herself into all sorts of situations at usual. Some parts really made me laugh out loud but there was also a serious tone to a lot of it. I enjoyed this one a lot and

couldn't put it down until I was finished.

Wonderful light read. I may not have nor want kids but I could still appreciate it. Even had me crying near the end. Silly light hearted fun, definitely a book for the beach.
