Remember Me, by Tracie Peterson, is book one in the Pictures of the Heart Series. It is a powerful Christian historical fiction that story grabbed my attention right from the start and kept me reading to the very end. It is a descriptive, well written story that contains faith, love, family issues,
Show More
friendships and suspense.
Addie's family went to the Yukon to find gold. While there she met Issac, they vowed that they would wait for each other while he attended school and they would eventually marry. After her father's death, her brothers sold her to the brothel owner. At his death, she inherited all his belongs and fled to Seattle to get away from her brothers.
This is a powerful story that contains extreme family issues of abuse. I enjoyed reading this story and seeing how much Addie had changed and how strong she was. I also enjoyed the deep friendships she had developed and what extremes Issac would go to get her back. The thing that stand out to me in this story are how Addie felt she was damaged and unworthy because of her life in Yukon. But many people tried to tell her it was not her sin, but rather a sin against her.
I voluntarily received a complimentary copy of this book, this is my honest review.

Remember Me is such a touching story! I connected with Addie and rooted for her to overcome the past and thrive.

I believe all things happen for a reason. It isn’t just happenstance or coincidence that Addie and Isaac’s paths cross. God directs their paths. And God’s love isn’t conditional.

He loves us how we are, no matter our paths, choices, or circumstances. What wonderful messages.

I love this starting over story. It showcases wonderful (and some not-so-wonderful) characters and a unique setting, and shares stirring spiritual truths. I learned a lot about the history of the gold rush, Brownie camera, the Alaska-Yukon-Pacific Expo. And I just love it when a story teaches me something new.

"Remember me." Author Tracie Peterson shares a spell-binding tale of a young girl who can't forget her first love but knows that they can never be together again. How could someone as wonderful as Isaac Hansen ever love her after all of the pain and humiliation that she'd been forced to endure?
Would she ever feel worthy again?

Remember Me tugged at my heart and triggered so many emotions, including anger, sorrow, and admiration. The story is set in 1909 Seattle, during the Alaska Yukon Pacific Expo, and Peterson weaves intriguing historical facts with an inspiring message of faith, hope, and forgiveness. It is a captivating historical romance, and I can't wait to read the next book in the series!

I received a complimentary copy from the author and publisher. There was no obligation for a positive review. These are my own thoughts.

Most of this story takes place in 1900's Seattle and we are gifted with a visit at the Alaska-Yukon-Pacific Expo, what a fun setting, but danger has followed Addie, but also her lost love finds her.

Even through difficult times, I love the people that God places in Addie's path, and they in turn are

blessings to others. I also enjoy the idea the author gives us of selling the Brownie camera, I could just see these young families, getting pictures taken, and then buying the affordable camera.

We are offered wonderful friendships, a bit of sweet romance, along with some danger. You will be page turning for answers, and they do come, but you in for another great adventure gifted to us by Tracie Peterson.

I received this book through Net Galley and the Publisher Bethany House, and was not required to give a positive review.

This book is okay. Liked the bit about living in the Yukon and the gold rush. I didn't care for the violence in it. A book that shows love knows no bounds.

Beautiful and emotionally charged, this novel packs fantastic character growth and development into its pages. I really liked how Addie grew through her painful past and deepened her faith throughout the story. The theme of forgiveness is so central to the novel that it is woven in every chapter

and allows the spiritual truths to shine. The historical details were also interesting and well integrated. I really loved the way the romance developed and I found myself cheering for Addie and Isaac the whole time. I enjoyed this novel and I am looking forward to the next one in the series!

wilderness. When her father dies, Addie's brothers continue to harass & abuse her, finally selling her to Sam Moermann, a local gambler & brothel owner. Addie works in the brothel as a cook, but soon finds herself forced to be Sam's mistress, then his wife. When Sam is suddenly killed in a gambling dispute Addie knows that this is her only chance to escape Dawson's Creek and the cycle of her brothers' abuse. Addie exits the Yukon as she enters it, disguised as a boy with only the clothes on her back & a knapsack with a change of clothes, a few bags of gold dust, and a gold nugget necklace worth a fortune that Sam gave her on the night of his murder. Six years later Addie has made a life for herself living & working with Otis & Pearl in their photography shop in Seattle. When the Alaska-Pacific-Yukon Exposition comes to Seattle, it is an exciting time for all the citizens & businesses, but it also invites danger in the form of thousands of visitors. Will Addie and her past remain safe or will old scars resurface with the emergence of the fair & its' visitors?

This was a really good book and I could not put it down - read it in 2 days! Tracie Peterson never lets you down with her historical fiction and compelling characters. I cannot wait to see how this series moves forward! Thank you LibraryThing for the Early Reviewers copy.

Addie Bryant made a trip to the Yukon with her brothers and father when she was but 15 years old. During that hard time, she lost her father, and her
Show More
brothers’ true cruel intentions caused her deep suffering. Now, after the unexpected death of her husband and with the help of a friend, Addie escapes the Yukon and her brothers’ threats. Addie lands in Seattle where she lives with a wonderful couple named Pearl and Otis who own a camera shop. While Addie doesn’t need the job, she works for them while she plans her future, a future without Isaac.
Isaac and his father have lived in the Yukon, opening a general store for the purpose of generating an income that will allow Isaac to seek higher education. While they are in the Yukon, Isaac meets Addie. When preparing to leave, he gives her a picture of himself with a carving on the back, “remember me.”
Hiram and Shep are Addie’s brothers who have served jail time for various crimes and are suspected of other crimes though they can’t be proven. Now, they have been released from prison. They have one goal and that is to find Addie and make her pay. These two miscreants have abused Addie and intend on taking all her money as well as making her go with them to California. When they show up at the expo in Seattle working on the ground crew, they find Addie, and the showdown begins!
In the first of her new series, Pictures of the Heart, readers will find a very touching story. At first, Addie is a victim of her brothers’ atrocities but soon she experiences just how real God is as well as His love. Pearl is a wonderful character who embraces Addie, showing her love in words and deeds. One of the reasons I wanted to read the story is because Addie’s story begins in the Yukon. But there is a much deeper thread running in the story, and that thread is redemption.
I highly recommend reading Remember Me, in preparation for the future books coming in 2023: Finding Us and Knowing You. Grab a copy and share with others this moving story of redemption and unfailing love!

Review if Rememb I started reading this book and at time needed encouragement. Danger abounds for Addie at the hands of her own family. And at a time when she thinks she is safe, her brothers locate her. Addie struggled with not feeling like she can marry Isaac because of her past. Isaac had gone

off to College with promise to Addie he would return and marry her. But just as Isaac found her so did her brothers - trouble for her. Abbie finds God's forgiveness and learned God's plan isn't always how we think it will be. But God walks with her through all the hardships. Any book Tracie Peterson writes will lift you up.

Remember Me is the first book in the Pictures of the Heart series by Tracie Peterson. My sincere thanks to Bethany House and the Library Thing Early Reviewers program for the opportunity to read this book and give my unbiased opinion of it in the following review.

The story begins with a little
Show More
background where we learn that Addie has been used and abused by her father and older brothers while living in the Yukon during the gold rush. She is sold by her brothers and later escapes her situation. In the meantime, her first love Isaac has never forgotten her and their lives are destined to cross paths again. Will Isaac be able to understand what she went through, and will Addie be able to believe that Isaac could love her even in spite of her past? Can she truly believe that God loves her and wants the best for her when it looks like her past has come back to finish her off?

This was a sweet story of young love that remains true even through separation and adversity. This inspirational novel teaches of God's love, forgiveness, and protection during tough times. I especially enjoyed the reference to the exposition and all the wonderful new things that were introduced at a time of great advancements as well as the teaching of the history of the gold rush. To imagine never having a camera and how awed people must have been to think that they could own their very own Brownie and take their own photos! I look forward to seeing whose story will be featured next in the series.

I Just loved reading this story! Overcoming what has happened in the past is not always easy. Forgiving oneself, especially and trusting in God for things we can't control. And that is what I felt had to happen for Addie to completely move past what she experienced in her life. This Christian

romance takes place in Seattle in the year 1909 at the time of the Alaska-Yukon-Pacific Expo. Moving from the Yukon to Seattle, Addie starts a new life and wants to forget the past, but the past won't stay away.
A very interesting read and I finished it in two evenings. It was hard for me to put the book down and it really captivated my interest and held it till the very end. I am sure you will just love it!
