I really loved this story, as I did the first book in this series, and this can be read alone with some recurring characters.

The author gives us a character that truly embraces the face of evil, and goes to great ends to inflict the most emotional pain he can possibly cause on another. Then there

are those who give their love and support to those who are unfortunate and in need, and they live their faith.

What a page turner this book became, and just when you think things are finally going to work out, something else happens!

Now I can't wait for the next read in this series!

I received this book through Net Galley and the Publisher Bethany House, and was not required to give a positive review.

Finding Us is the second book in the Pictures of the Heart series by Tracie Peterson. This story takes over where the first book ends, so it is best to read them in order. However, there is enough background information to read as a stand alone story. This story takes place in 1909 at the Alaska

Yukon Pacific Expo in Seattle. The story has a mix of nice and wicked characters. The main character is Eleanor, a camera girl at the expo. One of the pictures she takes is of a grieving young mother and her newborn child. Eleanor is also helping Bill rewrite his botany book for his publisher. His original book was damaged when the ship he, his brother and sister-in-law were on sunk. They believe his sister-in-law died, but she is being held captive by a man who despises her husband. When Bill sees the photo, the search is on to find his sister-in law.

This is an enjoyable story to read. It shows the deep grief Bill's brother and sister-in-law go through believing the other has died. We also see how generous with her time, Eleanor is with helping others. We also see the deep love and protection her parents have for her. This story takes several twists and turns and contains suspense and romance. This book kept me reading to see if the couple would find each other and how Elanor's and Bill's relationship would develop.

I voluntarily received a complimentary copy of this book, this is my honest review.

Finding Us by Tracie Peterson is well written, a good mixture of historical fiction, Christian values and a thriller. I had not read the first book in the series when I won this copy on LibraryThing. The book works very well on its own though I’d be interested to read the first book in the series

to see how they work together.

It’s an intriguing plot with a very likable heroine in Eleanor Bennett and a very appealing hero in Bill Reed. Eleanor is a Camera Girl at the Alaska-Yukon-Pacific Exposition in Seattle in 1909, taking pictures of the tourists and promoting Kodak cameras. Bill and his brother Wallace have just survived a shipwreck when their ship from Alaska sank near Seattle but Wallace’s very pregnant wife Amelia was lost. Wallace, a minister, is distrait and has lost his faith. Bill is a botanist who has lost the book he’d just finished writing when he gave it to Amelia to take in the lifeboat. He’s taken a job at the Exposition, giving tours of the Alaska building and happens upon Eleanor taking pictures of flowers because she really wants to be a botanist.

The plot moves on from there, Eleanor is taken with a young widow and baby at the Exposition and takes their picture. The photo shop owner is also taken with the picture and puts a copy of it in his window. As Eleanor and Bill’s romance progresses, they finally realize who the widow is. The plot then becomes more of a thriller, a real page turner, as they try to find her and solve the mystery of who would have hidden her away.

Tracie Peterson has a real gift for creating wonderful characters and interesting plots.

Finding Us by Tracie Peterson is the second book in the Pictures of the Heart series. It can be read as a standalone if you have not read Remember Me. The story transports readers back to 1909 in Seattle where the Alaska-Yukon-Pacific Exposition is taking place. The author’s descriptions bring

the scenes to life. I could imagine the bustling exposition, the flora and fauna in Seattle and Alaska, the streets of Seattle, and even the sinking of the ship. I enjoyed learning about the exposition and the Camera Girls. A picture taken by one of the Camera Girls may have been only ten cents but that was a fortune for some people. I was surprised to learn that the “new” Brownie camera cost only ten dollars. I can tell the author did her research on the exposition. I enjoyed getting to know Eleanor and Bill. We also get to know Bill’s brother, Wallace and his wife, Amelia. Grady Masterson is an evil man intent on revenge. I did feel that Bill and Eleanor’s romance moved too quickly despite the explanations. Wallace had a crisis of faith which is understandable after the loss of a loved one. It is reasonable to wonder why God lets bad things happen especially to good people. I did feel that Wallace was a little quick to change his tune when hope came his way. Faith, God, and scripture are strong themes in the story since faith is a big part of the main characters lives. I like that we got to catch up with Addie and Isaac from Remember Me. The story does contain violence (fisticuffs, abuse, and murder). Key details are repeated throughout the story. I can understand repeating them once or twice, but no more than that. I felt that Finding Us was a nice but predictable story. In Finding Us the author has combined love, loss, hope, revenge, greed, friendship, and faith into one heartwarming tale.

Finding Us is about Alaska without being set in Alaska. Eleanor Bennett works as a Camera Girl at the Alaska-Yukon-Pacific Exposition in Seattle. A botany enthusiast, she loves photographing the wide variety of plants used in the landscaping at the expo as much as taking souvenir pictures of those
Show More
attending. That's how Bill Reed came to find her in a precarious position photographing floating plants in a small lake. A botanist by profession, Bill was working giving tours in the Alaska building at the expo. As usually happens in historical romance books, Eleanor and Bill's friendship quickly grows but faces unusual obstacles. In this book, the obstacles stem from Bill's brother, Wallace, having lost his wife and unborn child in a shipwreck on their way to Seattle from Alaska, an event which negatively impacted his faith in God. Further complications arise from the vengeful attitude of a man whose brother was hanged after Wallace testified against him.

I really enjoyed the plot of this book. The author paced it well and transitions between storylines were smooth. The dialogue occasionally felt off, but not often enough to impact my enjoyment. I am grateful to have received a complimentary copy of Finding Us from Bethany House via NetGalley without obligation. All opinions expressed here are my own.

Finding Us is the second novel in the Pictures of the Heart series that takes place in Seattle during the Alaska-Yukon-Pacific Exposition in the early 1900s.

During the expo, Eleanor Bennett works as a camera girl who takes pictures of people who are attending. Eleanor is an only child who is thrilled to meet new people, take pictures, and sell cameras. While taking a walk, she comes upon a woman dressed in black holding a very small infant, and it is then that Eleanor’s heart is captured.
William and Wallace Reed were traveling by ship to Seattle when disaster struck. Wallace’s wife is said to have drowned and Wallace is inconsolable. William, or Bill as he goes by, works in one of the display areas and gives tours of the Alaska exhibit. The brothers have a nemesis named Grady Masterson who is out for revenge against them for testifying during Grady’s brother’s trial.
Bill spent months writing about plant life in Alaska, thought his manuscript was lost at sea, and therefore would have to start again. However, is his work truly lost at sea with his sister-in-law? Eleanor and Bill love botany, the Lord, and learning. Will these two young people find romance amidst deadly danger and pursuit by Masterson?
Once again, Tracie Peterson has written a captivating and thrilling novel with characters that are easy to connect with and read about. Finding Us is the second book in the series; the first is Remember Me. Audiences will enjoy both heart-touching tales of love, loss, forgiveness, and hope from the first page until the very end. Each novel can be read as a stand-alone story; however, be aware that some characters from the first book appear in the second. I enjoyed the mystery and suspense along with the romance as Eleanor and Bill long for adventure in their lives. I hope others will read and then share the stories with family and friends alike. I highly recommend the novel and the series! I’m looking forward to the third book, Knowing You, coming in November 2023.

As much as I wanted to love this, it fell just a bit short. I thought the characters were kind of flat, and I just can’t get into a story where I’m not connecting.

Another wonderful book from one of my favorite authors. This is the second book in the Pictures of the Heart series and I can’t wait to read the final book to see how the series ends.

This book touches on revenge, mental illness, and loss. But, things are not always as they seem because what is

lost can sometimes be found again.

Even though Eleanore and Bill’s relationship progressed quickly, they were definitely meant for each other. I would have loved more of an epilogue to find out what happened once Eleanore and Bill’s family made it back to Alaska. Hopefully that will be touched on in the next book.

This is a series I would definitely recommend. I was provided a copy of the book from the author/publisher. I was not required to post a positive review and all views and opinions are my own.

Very similar to the first book yet entirely different. You don't think of the evil people who attend events like the Expo in Seattle 1909. This continuation is a wonderful story of Eleanor who is there to work with a camera at the Expo until the event is over but loves botany. She meets a botanist
Show More
also working there, who had been living in Alaska and had recently been on a ship that sank getting to Seattle. There the plot thickens and it's hard to put it down. Characters you'd like to know. Strong lessons of faith. Excellent story.

I received this book free from the author, publisher and NetGalley book review bloggers program. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
