Royal Greenwich Observatory (1997), Edition: 2nd Revised edition, Paperback, 32 pages
Description
On the morning of Wednesday 11th August 1999, a total eclipse of the Sun will be visible from the south-western part of the UK mainland, the Scilly Isles and the Channel Islands lasting up to 2 minutes 0.6 seconds. This guide has been produced with the aim of helping people to get most out of this spectacle. Although the eclipse has the potential of being seen by the largest number of people in the history of eclipse watching, this guide will concentrate on the event as it will be seen from the British Isles. Assuming the weather conditions are good, this will be the only opportunity to see a total eclipse of the sun for nearly a century from this part of the world. Information on how to observe the eclipse safely is also provided.
