Another fine Christian, historical romance, this book is better written than the first in the Little Hickman Series, but it's still got quite a bit of plot repetition. I mean, I appreciate a subtle reminder of what previously happened in the series, but I don't need constant reminders in every

chapter. It's too redundant and takes away from the enjoyment of the novel. Overall, I still enjoyed reading it and look forward to the third book in the series, Courting Emma.

I really enjoyed the book of Sarah and Rocky. I like that the characters are not perfect, nor has everything gone perfectly in their lives. My heart went out to Seth and Rachel, Rocky's niece and nephew, who come to live with him after the death of their mother.

Another great story in the Hickman Creek Series. This was a story I looked forward to every time I sat down to pick it up and read awhile. The town of Little Hickman Creek grows on you and you want to stay awhile and see what is going on. This story was about Sarah Woodward (who you briefly met in
Show More
book one, "Loving Liza Jane"). She is the woman who came to town as a mail-order bride, but her prospective husband then tells her he has fallen in love with another woman. Sarah is disappointed, but refuses to leave until she finds out the reason why God led her to Little Hickman Creek.

Rocky Callahan is a man who is a little bitter and hard. He lost his wife and only child and then his sister. He is faced with raising his sister's two children alone. Feisty Sarah meets cold hearted Rocky and they don't get off to a good start. Rocky suggests marriage in name only to take care of his niece and nephew and Sarah accepts. Can Rocky let go of his past and trust God again? Can Sarah trust her decision to stay in Kentucky and try to make this totally dysfunctional family a true home?

You can't help but enjoy these two main characters. You get glimpses into what each is thinking and feeling and your heart goes out to them as they struggle to "get along" around each other and then struggle to share their heart's desires with each other. A heartwarming story that will leave you wanting to know more about the folks in Little Hickman Creek; which is why I am now moving on to story #3, "Courting Emma".
