Although titled "Galaxies", many of the photos in this coffee-table sized book are not of galaxies but either constellations or objects within our own galaxy. Still, this is a very good compilation of images of mostly deep-sky objects.

There is considerable text associated with most images to enrich

the readers appreciation of the impressive photos. Some of these photos are black and white, others are in color.

The book has some order to the photos. It starts within our galaxy and by page 68 gets out side our galaxy and offers truly galaxy photos. The author groups interacting galaxies together and also offers a sectionon galaxy clusters. Towards the end of the book is a large section that delves into the known extent of the univerese and the position of galaxy clusters within it.
