Description

The body of a woman is found in a corner of Hampstead Heath. She has been strangled, and it is clear from her appearance that she was a prostitute. The police soon have a suspect and several contradictory witnesses, but no proof and little information. With ingenuity and patience Inspector Poole pieces together the story behind the lonely Magdalen and why she came to grief.
