I've just about worn out my 1978 edition. It may be time for an update. One of the most useful reference books I own.

This is a must in your writing library! This book will not only provide you with a wide variety of words to use in all your writing, but will help you find “just the right word” to use. This book can also serve as a wonderful source for inspiration.

I was a staunch Roget's fan until I used this thesaurus; I find it more comprehensive and easier to use, without the annoyance of having to flip to the back of the book for the "theme" synonyms. Roget's is still my backup, but this is definitely the one I reach for first.

This is the one most indispensable reference book for me as a writer, aside from my dictionary. It's more complete than any thesaurus. I would be lost, nay, desolate without it.
