A German journalist writes about his experiences in Indochina (North/South Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand and China) from 1945 to 1979 when the book was published. He divides the book into the first, second and third Indochina Wars. The first being the French, the second (incorrectly in my

opinion) the American and the third is the Vietnamese invasion of Cambodia and the resulting war between Vietnam and China. His long experience gives a good perspective on the period and he has some interesting insights. It is also a good read with the chapters being of a good size.
