I first read this last year, and it made my heart so happy. The developing relationship between Charlie and Nick is adorable and filled with all the awkwardness and angst that comes with being young and in love. Oseman’s art is simplistic but still spot on and renders everyone perfectly. If
Show More
you’re looking for a practically perfect young queer love story, this series is exactly what you’re looking for.

This was a gentle, quick read. I appreciate the way that Oseman has set the pages up, because unlike many visual stories, I was able to follow this one quite well, even with the sparse dialogue. The story is sparse, mostly because there is only so much that can be fit in to images, with much of the
Show More
dialogue hinted at with punctuation rather than trying to fit a lot of text on a page, and I think that this really helped with making it readable.

A short & sweet graphic novel. Finished both the volumes in 1 go. Best thing I like about the books is the way various ethnic & sexual groups are represented in it. Not many novels do that. Definitely pick it up for a fast, chill read.

A high school gay romance that keeps alternating between sweet and heartbreaking. I was reading the ebook and was totally caught unprepared when the ending came so suddenly. It reads so quickly!

Need second volume ASAP.

Do I think this comic is revolutionary? no. But do I think that this was one of the cutest comics ever? Absolutely. Read it all in one go and now I miss it :(

OH MY HEART.

Cutest thing ever full of shy boys and questioning and great friendship. I need the next volume to see where Charlie and Nick go from here.

I have no idea why I didn't read this earlier! It's so adorable :)

This was a very endearing and sweet story, definitely worth reading and entertaining. I look forward to reading the second book. This story had likable and unlikable characters, which made it pleasant to read and not enter unrealistic relationships and revelations when presenting topics of identity
Show More
and attraction, especially between same-sex teens. I like that it wasn't cheesy and was grounded in realism.

Absolutely adorable. What angst there is might pull hard at the reader's heartstrings, but at the same time there's an ever-present feeling that things will work out for the primary characters, even if it's going to take some patience. Super sweet, and the simple illustrations fit the vibe
Show More
perfectly.

This was a very cute graphic novel. I loved the monochrome colors and the story was heartwarming. I like Nick and Charlie together and can't wait to see where their story heads next.

Charlie Spring ends up sitting next to rugby player Nick Nelson in class one morning and soon, a friendship follows. Charlie almost instantly crushes hard on Nick. While Nick begins to struggle with feelings of his own.

This is the most wholesome and adorable graphic novel I’ve read in a long
Show More
time! The cute little “eeee” moments from Charlie after cute interactions with Nick made me also go, “eeee!”.

Don’t deny yourself this adorableness any longer!

Plus, this is going to be a Netflix show here soon and I cannot.

Totally adding this series as a must buy/collect right now. I just know I’m going to be coming back and reading about these two all over again.

I have books 1-4 right now checked out from my library, and I was going to try and space them out a bit, but yea, no…. I’m going to go home this weekend and devour the other 3 volumes.

Please read this! The boys are adorable! The art is adorable! It’s just all so very lovely.

Absolutely adorable oh my god I can't wait for the next one

It's a YA graphic novel but contains a very moving storyline that any young gay person will find hope and encouragement in. I wish my son had had this book during his high school years. It would have answered a ton of questions for him. Charlie and Nick are 14 & 16...and cuter than a speckled
Show More
puppy, as my grandmother used to say. You can't help but love them and wish them all the best things in the world. There is a very brief happening in the storyline that may be a put-off for some but overall, it is an adorable offering. I'm going to buy this Volume and Volume 2 and donate them to our local Pride group.

Ahhhhh. I NEED book 2. This book was so sweet. And very real. Charlie is “out” at school and everyone knows it. He has been hooking up with a guy who wants everything to be a secret, but this guy isn’t good for him. Then he meets Nick. They are put in form together and become friends. Nick
Show More
convences Charlie to pay rugby and the friendship deepens. We readers are left off after the first kiss and a question of will they/won't they get together. I need to know. Off to place book 2 on hold.

Follows the budding romance between two high schoolers, one who already knows he's gay and one who's taken by surprise by his attraction to the other. Really good and sweet so far in this first volume.

This graphic novel follows two teenaged boys as they fall in love and navigate what that means for them. I feel like there wasn't a whole lot to this, but it was sweet, and I suspect I will keep reading the series.

This is such a feelgood graphic novel.

Going in I thought it would be all lovey dovey and cute and fluffy. It was more serious than I was expecting. There are instances of homophobia, bullying, and even toxic relationships. But there is also a bunch of super sweet and wholesome moments. It mixes the good and bad moments really well. It
Show More
also has some beautiful art with some "lower quality" instances that I just think adds to the charm a lot. Been thinking of reading the series for a while. I'm glad i finally did.

Today I read volume one of Heartstopper, the young adult graphic novel by Alice Oseman. I haven’t watched the Netflix series so this was my first introduction to the story of the budding love between Charlie and Nick.

This is such an endearing, heartwarming story, drawn in a rather elementary
Show More
style without much background, focusing on the facial expressions of its characters instead. And that’s where Oseman excels. With a few simple lines she expresses a wide range of emotions that are totally believable and drag you into the story.

What a treat this must be for young gay adolescents! But it left this 60 year old reader not unmoved as well. I will definitely read the other three volumes in this series.

It was a cute ya story. I liked seeing some healthy and supportive relationships around LGBTQ+ teens.
LibraryThing member spiritedstardust
This was extremely quick to read - and very sweet and simple.

But just not for me - I read it because of the hype but I just don't want to read about teenage romances.

I think I have officially gotten too old for this genre…

While I enjoyed the story, I was a bit taken aback by how bad the art was in some cells. I know the author is not a trained artist by any means, but it did strike me as a bit unfortunate that she was able to get a whole book series funded
Show More
while very talented artists are ignored. Ah well! I look forward to reading the rest (if they ever fall into my hands)…

This is such a cute feel-good story. I really liked the art and the storyline as well. Super easy to binge read.
